Added weight will reduce kick, there are 3.5in chambered guns out there (like one below) that will cover all the game you want to shoot with it from dove to geese to turkeys. And it is going to retain more value. And that 3rd shot is usually wasted anyway.

I couldn't agree with this more. You can choose on the chamber, but if you truly want a hand me down and something that will last go with the O/U. O/U with beautiful wood is tops.
^^^^^This. I bought the Citori White Lightning in 3" 12 ga 6 years ago and have not regretted it. Killed many a critter with it, either furred or feathered. When I got married 3 years ago, the wife-to-be broke out the matching 20 ga for my wedding present at the rehearsal supper. I was floored. Made me want to exchange the $200 video camera I bought her to take on our honeymoon. But these two stack-barrels will definitely be the crown jewels I hand down to my kids. They don't sit in the safe to be admired. They get used as much and as evenly as possible. My other guns will be handed down as well, but these two O/U are what I will be most proud to pass on.

I got the new A5 last year and absolutely love it. Winchester Super X 3 would be a good choice as well. The only reason that I didn't get one of those is because they have trouble shooting light dove loads and I wanted a "do all" shotgun. The A5 works for me and will probably be the last one I ever buy. I kinda wish I had gotten the wood stock on it though.

Joel, I have to argue with you about that 3rd shot being wasted. That's another reason I like my old style Benelli 8)
We both know that dad's "go to gun" is going to mean more than a pretty one, no way to argue that. But if dad's "go to gun" was pretty, well ..... That's all I am saying. And don't get me wrong, I miss the 3rd shot every once and a while. But I tend to make 1 and 2 count more when I know there is no 3rd.

I am trying to decide between a Krieghoff K80 with 30 in barrels and a full set of briley tubes or a Kolar standard skeet with 30in barrels and a full set off Kolar tubes. Hope to have shot both enough by the end of the eyar to have my mind made up and order one of my own.

And I can agree with this as well.

Dan, just because you got that fancy new truck doesn't mean you need a fancy new gun.

Are there any good gun shops here? Was in the neighborhood today and went by BPS. They suck, no selection, no service. I did see the new A5, beautiful! But I already have the OG.

Edit: Would the new barrels fit on the old action/stock?
