Brother in law and I went this morning and saw very few ducks but a lot of tags from up north are starting to show up in Vicksburg. Even saw one truck with Mississippi Bound in shoe polish on the back window. Do ya'll think these are the same guys on the refuge forum complaining about Trent trying to get that extra nine days?????

Who knows Judge, having to hunt hard to just get a few. Couldn't imagine driving 500 miles or more without a good working knowledge of the areas and conditions.

The trip is not all about killing ducks. They enjoy the southern hospitality, that we give'em. They enjoy the Delta life we live. The hope that comes with the morning sunrise.
What the hell am I talking about, I must go get my coffee. They want to kill waterfowl as bad as I do.

Man the South-Carolina-Truck shark school was swimming all around the middle delta earlier this week.

Well, the GA season ends next week, along with AR and others. I expect it may get a bit more crowded real quick. I'm gonna beat the crowd and come back the end of this week! I do know a couple of guys from here in GA that come over. Most spend a couple of days with Wingman or other guides, then come back with nothing but good stories of the people they met and how much they wish they lived there. I'm with them on that one...I'm counting the days until I can retire and move my old butt back there, hunt ducks with my buddies, and ring my cowbell at all the home games (oops, forgot that was outlawed)! See ya'll on Sat.!

I'd prefer they stayed at home, but I will vouch for thier friendliness. They will actually talk to you at the gettin off spot. The ones I have had close contact with have been very friendly AND courteous.
For example, I had an idea about 2 weeks ago on where some birds could probably be found, you know - the general area, and about where to put in cause of the floodwater.
I pull up not expectin competition and there were two trucks, I remember one was from Alabama, with a war eagle boat. Yeah, they were decked out and looked like topwaters. They were just hangin around so I backed the boat right on in. If the shoe had been on the other foot, I woulda been pissed but I wouldn't have been lolly gaggin around either. ANyway, after we put in and was parking, we struck up a conversation and they told me they had seen a lot of birds in there and basically where they were. They were still friendly when I expected mad. Turns out, he was right about the birds, but neither of us could get to them good from there. Man, I never would have told him the same thing.
Next weekend at the place Mississippi Bound goes. It looked like a South Carolina convention. I talked to 2 dif. groups and each was very friendly and, heck, seemed like good old boys. I almost invited them back to the camp for a drink.
Of course they told me how the water was and where they hunted. They were gonna go back in the woods but 2 boats went in ahead so they backed off out of respect cause they really didn't know the area and didn't want to get to close. I didn't have the heart to tell him "Man, the water hasn't ever been like this in huntin season here, them locals don't know where they are going till they get there either". They set up on a field spot I was familiar with and got a few birds the second day.
You better believe if they spend the vacation to come down here they will be prepared. He couldn't get the birds to work the first day, so he changes his boat blind from shadow grass to breakup and reported better success after the change! Now that is what I call prepared.
Anyway, I know I can be a jerk on the way to the hole in the a.m. if it is gonna be a race. And I will lie in a heartbeat after the hunt about where and what I did. Me and them is quite a contrast. I like thier way better, but don't look for me to change real soon.

Saw some of the South Carolina waterfowl convention this morning. Didn't have any competition at the hole I was going to though. Talked to a couple of them at the store and seemed real nice. They only asked if I was killing but not where. Still would rather not have the extra pressure on the birds that all already seem call shy.
Meeka, I would have enjoyed talking to you when we were unloading the other day but you seemed kind of in a hurry and I didn't want to slow you down. We went to the beans that morning and only killed 1 mallard but had to leave early because 1 of the guys with me was on his way back to work in New York.

Featherduster, if that was the morning I was trying out my troling moter, you din't miss anything. I was on the other side of my truck when you said something.
We achieved the same result as your group. I did not fire. The place I have had good success at for at least 3 years has grown up too much. One group came in and had the same idea but had to set up in the middle instead. I do not think they did well, but they should have had several groups of pintails look at them. They are the ones that fired one shot just as our best chance was about to commit suicide.
I kinda thought afterwards I might have been in your way with you having that trailer, but I really had no where else to go. It is not like that is a ramp, or even a parking lot. For what it is worth, I'm sorry. I wish I had seen you on the way out, though.

Meeka, I had the boat for a quick backup in case that paticular WMA had been to crowded. I felt silly dragging it in there but I had a backup about 20 miles away that would have required me having it without driving back to Vicksburg.
