About 10 of us grown ups are getting away from the kids this weekend and headed to north Georgia for a little trip. We are staying in Ellijay,GA, this Thurday thru Sunday. Going white water rafting on the Ocoee on Saturday. Any suggestions for Friday? We were thinking of tubing down a river close by or maybe going to the Nantahala.
Thanks for any input.

If you run out of stuff to do, make the drive to the Dillard House in Dillard. Thank me later. Horseback riding there too.
Helen is a cool town as is Dahlonega & Tallulah Falls. Pretty Country up that way.

Don't pass up the Chatooga to hit the Ocoee or the Nantahala. The Chatooga is a must do white water trip.

All of those are great suggestions, from Georgia and those were some of my old haunts, Tallulah River might be a bit far, very northeast corner of GA. Did Dahlonega get mentioned?
Also consider passing thru Guntersville, Al if you have time and hand feed the deer in the stae park, if you do this possible route to consider Rome GA (Berry College) , Ft Payne Al, Guntersville, beautiful country.

Helen was always my favorite tubing destination when I lived in north GA. It's about 60 miles east of Elijay, cool little town. Have a safe trip.

Re: North Georgia trip this weekend questions
We ended up staying in an awesome cabin on top of the mountain right out of Ellijay. Friday we tubed down the Catacay river close to Ellijay. It was suppose to be a 3 hour trip, but we managed to turn it into a 6 hour trip. We had a blast. Saturday we did the middle Ocoee rafting trip, and it was awesome. Other than the tubing and rafting we just hung out at the cabin. Lots of cooking and drinking with great friends. One of the best trips I have taken in a long time. Very relaxing.
Thanks for all the info.
