Anyways.. I bought a drone and I have enjoyed it around the farm. Unfortunately no girls there.

Dji phantom 3

I've got the Phantom 3 Advanced. That thing is fun to fly. Just got it last week.....bought a Phantom 1 last summer, never could get it calibrated, thought I broke it trying to calibrate it so it sat in the box until last week....guy that works with my wife wanted to try to get it working so she took it to work and sure enough, he got it flying. They were texting me videos of everyone at the office flying it that day....couldn't wait to fly it myself when she got home from work....been waiting 14 months to fly it, thought I screwed it up when I first tried to calibrate it, sits in the box over a year, wife's coworker brings it back to life, it was like Xmas eve waiting for her to bring it back home....she brings it home, I grab it, run to back yard to get that bird in the air, wife tells me I should probably read the instructions, told her that wasn't happening, besides, I know if you move the left throttle up, the drone goes straight up, then move left throttle down and the drone will go straight back down....so that's all I was gonna do...so that's what I did but I got a little carried away and kept sending it higher and higher, then all of a sudden it catches some wind and starts drifting...I panick and start moving the throttles and it starts going all over the place....long story short, my drone flew off into oblivion headed towards Bolton, never to be seen again...I fully expect to see it again someday being used as a hood ornament on one of the many Caprices that call Bolton home....so I immediately go in the house and buy the much nicer Phantom 3 and have it at my house the next afternoon....then my wife asks my why my solution to losing one drone is to immediately go out and buy a more expensive drone, fair question that didn't have much of an answer....my new drone has a 1.2 mile range, I won't be testing that out.

You can try to fly it to China if you want. It will just come back exactly to where it took off when it gets out of range. That thing is somethin'

I bet the first time an airplane runs into one, the airplane isn't damaged and the drone doesn't walk away.

It depends on where it hits. If it hits near a fuel tank, the engine, or the windshield, it's not going to be pretty. It'll probably leave a dent no matter where it hits, and airplane dents aren't cheap to fix.

Saw a video the other day where a drone flew over an apartment complex and caught a topless sunbather on the roof. Didn't show anything, but mentioned that she had "no expiation of privacy" in that situation.

Used to could tell when the soroity girls were sunbathing on top of Panhellenic. The number of helicopters out of Camp Shelby flying over that general area would increase dramatically when the weather was nice.

Yeah, you gotta get a medical and a flight review before you can pilot a drone. Lol.

I know a few guys that used to fly RC planes at our local airport. They'd always fly late in the evening or Sunday afternoons when no planes were around. Now they've moved about 10 miles from town to a grass airstrip. Said the FAA made em relocate.

I got the kids a remote helicopter for Christmas. We live by the airport and I got told after they saw it flying around that FAA rules say 5 miles. I never went over maybe 200 ft but it didn't matter. The downwind legs for approach to the runway goes right over the house.

The sorority dorms at DSU are under the traffic pattern when we were landing south. That downwind leg would get lower and lower each year.

Press Release – DOT and FAA Finalize Rules for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Under the final rule, the person actually flying a drone must be at least 16 years old and have a remote pilot certificate with a small UAS rating, or be directly supervised by someone with such a certificate. To qualify for a remote pilot certificate, an individual must either pass an initial aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center or have an existing non-student Part 61 pilot certificate. If qualifying under the latter provision, a pilot must have completed a flight review in the previous 24 months and must take a UAS online training course provided by the FAA. The TSA will conduct a security background check of all remote pilot applications prior to issuance of a certificate.
