Barrel length for all purpose
I am debating over a SBE 2 but the gun store has one with a 26" and another with a 24" barrel. I am going to be using it for wingshooting primarily but I thought if I got the 24" it could also be a turkey gun. What is everyones thoughts?

That'd be me. I already told him 24" was too short. Shows how much my opinion matters.

Re: Barrel length for all purpose
I have a 24 inch.
Depending on length of receiver I would go with 26" min just due to muzzle blast as others have said.
My old xtrema 1 has a longer receiver and the 24" has same overall length as my 28" 686.

So esJay and teul2 you guys didn't appreciate me hunting with my 24" Nova???
Have a 26" barrel on my Stoeger and it's just about right. Much better than that short barrel Nova mentioned above.

For me personally that 2" of extra sight plane does make a difference.

One of my favorite guns has a 22" barrel. In the hands of better shooter maybe there would be a difference, but I can't tell any significant difference between how it shoots and any of my other guns with longer barrels. It is, however, an ear bleeder if you aren't standing directly behind it!

Try being in a pit blind with anyone shorter than a 26. I had to deal with a client and his ported 24 one day. Only reason I didn't say anything. Ears rang for three damn weeks.landscaper wrote:One of my favorite guns has a 22" barrel.
