Shiny duck bands? Hell, don't none of the shiny ones make it south of arkieland.... How in the hell do they shoot all dem bands on dem tv shows anywho?

Naw, that was a straw hat. Dudes talking bout whut the sports call 'floppy' hats. I call them cocksucker hats myself. And no, I don't own one, or want one. I do like my big straw hat though, keeps yur head cool, and you always tell people yur digger o del!

Dat pos deek was defective. Keel all cracked outta the back of it. One #7 steel pellet sank it..... Sheez. Since I apprently bought it (glenn stole oneof my deeks and put his store bought anchor on it), I did then shoot the poop outta it, and tie it on my hitch, where it remains.

Man I was cking ducks in one day at the local sports emphorium (dats store dutchdog! bwhahahah). Des guys come up in one of dem DU suburbans, you know the ones that had a matching boat for the roof. Full face paint, like dey was in vietnam. Totesack full o birds. Dumped their birds out, and I swear dem boys had 15 coots. Asked me whut they was, and I told them gadwalls, and made them out 3 tickets, told them to go pay at the register......

I hear ya goose and I'm glad you dont own one of them hats. I carried my boss ducking one day about 3 yrs ago and he's a city boy. Everything that flew by us to him was a duck . I heard can we shoot, can we shoot all morning long. We did get a few birds too work and did manage 4 or 5 ducks. Finally I told him I was going to get the boat. I got nearly back to the blind when he jumped up and went to blasting the water behind him. I hollerd and ask him what the he-- he was doing shooting @ a beaver or what he turn around like a kid in the candy shop he said I got 6 with 3 shots. I ask him what they looked like he told me a big wad just came swimming by and he blasted them I ask him what do they look like?He said they were black with white looking bills I knew what they were I told him man you have done shot some coots. He grinned even bigger. He ask what they tasted like I said hell I havent ever eaten one and dont intend to. He ask me what they liked to eat and I told him sewage lagoons is where alot of them feed. He ask well what do u do with them I told him man I dont ever shoot one cause I dont want them in my boat, He told me he knew of a guy that would take them and so I sent the dog to pick them all up and we went home I guess somwhere out there there's someone who ate a coot and didnt know it hehehehe anyway. tothis day he still brags about getting 6 with 3 shots. Real Hunter??

I ran into two real hunters on my short vacation, the first was a young guy around 25 yrs old. He pulled up at the boat ramp in he New dodge king cab 4x4 pulling his new Express with the Avery blind and a new Mariner 30 hp He satrted demanding the we pull out and let him in beacuase hee needs to get to his hole, Told us that people like us should not be duck hunting at all during the week, we should be hunting. I gather that he is some rich little snot whose only ploy in life is to spend dad'd or granddads money. needless to say we told him what he could kiss. About nine o'clock that morning the cam busting throught the middle of our dekes holding up his two wood ducks that he shot 10 min before shooting hours. The second real hunter was a gentalman around the age of 55. We were hunting around Sardis and this guy was paddling his boat to his hole, We'll I gave him a drag in and he asked us to hunt with him. Well it was my first time there and I was going to hunt out in the middle near the cypress, so needless to say the little hole he was in I would have never found so we took him up on his offer. By 9:00 the three of us had 10 mallards and 5 woodies, and all of a sudden the older gent started paddling out to catch a "run-a-way" deke of his, I pffered to get it and he said no, so I just watched, when he got to the deke he started pulling in the line and to my surprise out comes a crappie. The older gent, had put hooks and bait on a few of his dekes so he could fish too. Said he had been doing it this way for as long as he could remeber, Also said it seems when the duck hunting is slow the fishing is hot. What ever, the total bag for the day was 11 mallards, 5 woodie, 4 crappie and 1 catfish. and that is a good day of fishing or duck hunting either way you look at it. I wish I would have gotten to go back and hunt with him again maybe next year.

Real Hunter??

I met a real hunter and his son at the South Greentree while I was back home. My son and I were coming out after hunting the mornining and he was a local (from Spanish Fort community)who was just checking things out with his son who was home from college, just like mine. We got to talking about one thing and another, and I shared that we were back home for the holidays and were trying to slip up on a duck while were there. Turned out we knew a lot of the same people from Holly Bluff and after a while he sent his son back to the truck to "get one of the permits." He gave me a permit to hunt on his private hole behind his house. Said it was planted in corn and "had a few ducks." We went by there and he did have a few ducks. But, my son remembered him saying his son and some friends were going to hunt it the next day. My son told me he wouldn't feel right hunting it, knowing that the ducks might not be back for his son the next day. Bear in mind, we had hunted three days and had not poppd a cap. We left the permit in his mailbax with a "Thanks" note. Now that I think about it, I was with several "real" hunters that day! You know, I don't think I remember if they were even wearing camo. But I was wearing my "Go to Hell" hat that I've had so long it doesn't even qualify as camo anymore. Sure does keep the rain off my neck, though!

I hear you crow. I got one of those "Go to Hell" hats too. As a matter of fact I got it for Christmas. I love it, that wax really does shed water. And No I'm not a weekend warrior type. I hunted thursday- got skunked, friday- 1 green wing teal,saturday-skunked, sunday-skunked. I'll be back in the water tuesday a.m.

Just be patient, we need more bad weather fronts not blue bird day cold fronts. I saw the most birds I have seen all year b/n Marks & Batesville on private land yesterday. They'll be here..
