What gear ratio do you have? Sounds like you have the 3.31. If not, that's no ringing endorsement for the F150!SwampMan wrote:I have a 2013 5.0 4x4 crew cab. Not towing, I love it. Plenty of power and decent mileage (round 17-18 on highway). Different story when hooked to a trailer. I think the engine has plenty of power, but it is hindered by the 6 speed transmission. I hauled my ranger to illinois last year and really surprised the engine didn't come to pieces. 3rd gear going up hills and 6th coming down em. When I hit flat ground north of memphis, it was the same issue with the headwind. Not sure if the ecoboost has the same issue, but it was VERY annoying. Told myself that I would never do that again. Averaged around 8 mpg on that trip.

I have the 3.55
Re: Ecoboost ????? Can't decide
I rented an Expedition with the eco and put a little over 5k miles on it in June making a trip out west. I averaged 19.5 mpg according to the screen. I was impressed with it but it was brand new.

Re: Ecoboost ????? Can't decide
If it is getting similar gas mileage, i;d go with the 5.0.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Re: Ecoboost ????? Can't decide
I own a 2013 FX4 Eco with 3.73s. It's got close to 120,000 now highway/logging rds averages about 15mpg but I also have a leveling kit, 35s, big brush guard and an ARE camper shell. Never had any issues. Towing it drops to 13.5 running 70-75, but it doesn't do well running 70-75 anyway on the mpg
We pulled an 18ft trailer with two bikes and enough camping gear for two weeks to New Mexico elk hunting and it averaged 10mpg. Smooth as silk and towed really well. I love mine and it has noticely more power than than 5.0 my coworkers drive. Power with the eco is no issue
