Is the military big enough to take down it's own citizens?

Would they even if ordered to?
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Yeah that is probably the biggest question. I would say most if not all of our troops are extremely patriotic. I don't think many would follow orders if it came down to it.

Keep kidding yourself. Most would follow orders with no hesitation.

Ha, probably not Mano y Mano, but Tank y Mano or Apache y Mano is whole another story..

I am not a big conspiracy theory guy, but it is good to stay informed about what is going on... If the military is upping their training then I am going up my training.. If the military is training for urban warfare and martial law then either fear something big is coming or they know something big is coming.. Either way when they start upping the ante on training, guns and supplies it is probably not a bad idea for me to do the same..

Ok.. taking off my tin foil hat now.. :D :D :D

Yeah, but as you say, a whole house full of handguns and AR's is not equal to a Bradley or Apache....

+1000 all it will take is some major protest/terror plot/etc. Then these guys will come in and do whatever they are told. It won't just be hey you guys go kill grandma, it will be masked by some other "incident" so the average soldier will not think twice about doing it. Just look at Boston after the bombing, they completely shut that city down and it can be done on a large scale if they wanted.

I have a lot of respect for all the military - and there are some bad dudes in all braches.

but I went on a wilderness hunting trip once - one of the guys was a military survival training officer of some sorts.

I hunted with him the first day. it sounded like he was wearing clown shoes the entire time walking through the woods - and he got lost on day 2 - with a GPS - and he was never 1 mile from the road.

Yes and yes.

The military is a job. Jobs put food on your table. If you are ordered to do something or lose your job, then most are going to do it. The old adage, "I like you but I love me" is very much in play here.

Moreover, the US military would have the US populace wrangled up in no time flat. We cannot compete with tanks, armed drones, etc....no matter how many .223 rounds you have.

I am on the fence about Jade Helm. I don't foresee the US Spec Ops community turning on the citizenry. I don't see Obama instituting martial law...staying in office, etc.

That said, we are still fighting a war in Afghanistan (for almost 14 years now) wherein these same soldiers have and continue to get plenty of on the job training in this scenario, in many respects. To my knowledge, the US military has never actually engaged in such a large scale martial law exercise in the US. You then throw in Obama's martial law executive order from his first term which gives him unilateral discretion. You throw in the fact the markets are WAY over inflated and that there is a likelihood of a large financial collapse in the near future.

So, I don't know. Six years ago I didn't think the US military would allow open gays and transsexuals into the service. That has happened now. Six years ago, I didn't think the SCOTUS would force all states to recognize gay marriage. That has happened now. Six years ago, I thought there was no way that Congress would completely take over US healthcare. Six years ago, I never thought that the US would abandon Israel to align with Iran. I never thought we would have a president that would order the Border Patrol to stand down and not enforce US law. I never thought we would have a president that would order the DEA to stop enforcing some drug laws. I didn't think a president would use the IRS to target conservatives and members of the press for dissent. I didn't think the government would be monitoring and recording virtually all digital content. All of that has happened and much more. So, once again, I just don't know and I also don't think that anyone else knows either that is not in the very upper levels of the executive office.

So they wouldn't think "hey this is weird we are being asked to shut down cities across the country, that doesn't seem right"??? Or maybe they would start out obeying and then defect after they realize what is actually going on? Eff it can't worry about this crap. If it hits the fan we just have to fight back and hope for the best.

How many of those 318 will inconvenience themselves to assist?
