I agree with what you say on the issues.
I can't speak for him, but how I feel about gay marriage is
It's ordained by god to be between a man and woman, however if a man wants to marry another man, I KNOW it is wrong in God's eyes, but i don't think the State of MS or wherever should be in the business of telling them yes or no, that is a moral issue between you and God, if they don't believe it's wrong then so be it, you and I know the consequences for that.
I really agree with you in the politicians, I have said it on here before and will say it again, they all take your money and support their interests, not the interests of the country, which is why i will not vote for a RE-elect me campaign. one shot then your done

It must be nice to live in your little world. Now, I'm not mad or anything, and we all know that Mr. fireplug can be opinionated. (To be honest, that's one of the reasons we like him so much.)sab316 wrote:How is allowing gay marriage reckless? There are people in this country that are Christian, Muslin, Hindu, Buddhist, etc. etc. etc. So why should they be pulled into having to follow a Christian Government? In this day and time there are all types of people in this here world we live in, and that make up this great country of ours. You just cussed.. willingly and probably multiple times today, and will probably do it multiple more times today. If all sins are equal in the eyes of God, you're no better than a homosexual. Drank beer lately? Looked at a woman, and though? Damn, the things I would do with that? Its all the same.
"I repent for my sins and don't live in it" but I bet you cuss on sundays after church too when you rack your knuckles, or spill a drink (or beer).
This is why the South is so far behind in every aspect of decent living in this country. We don't attract jobs, we're fat, stupid, stuck in our ways. Look at the bright spots in the South and they have more of a young generation that is progressive. They're open minded, now I'm not saying that my generation is perfect, because we're not. But atleast we don't prejudge and hate someone just because they are different.
Gay marriage in no way affects anyone on this board. It doesn't make your quality of life suffer because gay people are now allowed to marry the person they love. It doesn't make the world end. Its been over a week now, I don't see any fire coming from the skies. It doesn't make gas go up in price, or milk, or bread. This is a non-issue that over zealous people are clinging too.
The world is moving forward in a positive direction, jump on board or be left thumping your Bible muttering fire and brimstone and being pissed at the world, the choice is yours.
However, I gotta call you out on a couple of items in your post where you are mistaken.
True, we do have "people in this country that are Christian, Muslin, Hindu, Buddhist, etc. etc. etc." They came to this country because we have freedoms. These freedoms are based on Judeo/Christian principles, so we do in fact have a Christian government.
But your comment about the "South is so far behind in every aspect of decent living in this country. We don't attract jobs, we're fat, stupid, stuck in our ways..." That is insulting and just plain wrong. Your bank may be headquartered in Albania. your insurance? Maybe Georgia. The manufacturing job? Look at Mississippi. Medical research? Possibly South Carolina or Virginia. Shipping? Florida is pretty good at that, and so is Tennessee. Technology? Texas has more than their fair share. I could go on if you want, but you get the idea.
Now, back on point. You ask why gay marriage is reckless. Well, First of all, it is an impossibility. Marriage by definition is a religious sacrament. And regardless of whichever religion you chose (even the Thailand Buddha, the gayest god on the planet), homosexuality is wrong. If the government wants to get into the marriage business, then they now must be able to handle multiple definitions of marriage. Polygamy has already stepped up to challenge the whole 'marriage equality' argument with a man and his two wives in the Northwest. By what standards do we as a society now determine marriage eligibility? PETA has been trying to give animals rights for years, can a Stutgart waterfowler marry a Gadwall hen? What about the guy who really loves his classic car? Can somebody marry a '65 Mustang?
You get my point? Standards have to be set somewhere and they cannot be ever changing, based on the mere political whim of radicals. Society demands it. And I'm sorry to inform you of this, but since the entire LGBTQ population makes up less than 3% of the US population (according to the CDC), this whole 'gay rights' argument is nothing more than mere political whim of radicals.
Nobody owes you anything.
