Best Shell?

Postby PegMan » Tue Jan 18, 2005 7:24 pm

Well we have heard that Estate is the worst, so what does everyone like? I have good luck with DryLocks 3 1/2" #3's.

I'm sure there are many that may disagree, but for the money I like Kent Fast Steel.

as far as kent 3 " shells, it definitely has a hole in the pattern with my gun. We had a wounded teal on the water 20 yards from me swimming away, I put pellets all the way around the bird twice and it kept swimming.

Kents did that out of my Berreta, while Federals shot great.... Kents pattern great out of my Nova... Seems all shells do a little different out of different guns. Y'all have a nice day! 8)

Hevi-shot is the best, but I rarely use it because of the price. For my money Kent fast steel is the best. $ 13.95 for a box of 3 1/2 #2's. Thats hard to beat.

I like Kent faststeel 3" 1 1/4 #3, shot about ten cases of this stuff over the last four years and it works. If you get it real wet it doesn't work worth a damn, however anything short of submerging it in the water for a day and it's fine. Of course if money was no option I would shoot Hevi Shot, but thats pricey to shoot a case or three a year.

Hevi-shot 3 inch #4 high velocity.

If I hunted where there are ducks I may use something cheaper. Don't get alot of shooting here in East MS. If you average two shots a hunt its affordable.

I have used the high velocity 3 inch #4 winchesters with success.
