Like a child on Christmas morning!!!

Postby Delta Duck » Sun Jan 06, 2002 7:33 pm

During the really slow days of hunting I did not realize how much fun my dog has hunting. He just loves to be out in a duck hole. He loves it even more when there are ducks on the water.
I should have noticed or thought about it before. I have hunted with people that have good dogs, but the dogs act like it is a low paying job. They really don't care if they are out there or not.

YEP, A "GOOD DUCK DOG" KNOWS WHAT HE WAS BORN FOR AND SHOWS IT. IT AMAZES ME THAT MY
6YR OLD YELLOW WATCHES THE BIRDS WORK, STARTS SHAKING WHEN YOU START CALLING,AND WHEN YOU RAISE THE GUN HE IS COCKED AND READY TO BE RELEASED. BUT WHEN YOU MISS, I SWEAR THEY LOOK AT YOU LIKE YOUR THE BIGGEST
SON OF A #%$#%$# THERE IS;YOU JUST DEPRIVED HIM OF HIS ONLY EXISTANCE, TO RETRIEVE!!

Dogs are the best...mine loves it. Only problem is, when we go to the corn hole, he pulls ears off the stalk and eats them. Is this considered baiting? Gives new meaning to "corndog".

Hey I know what you guys are talking about times two! I have two labs and I take them both hunting with me. One is a chocolate 3.5 yr old and I have pick of his first litter that is a black 1 yr old. they are the best. I love watching their actions while one watches the other retrieve. They make a great team! I really like hunting flooded timber with them, so I can watch them. they let me know when the birds are coming. I rarely look up! I do not have any kids, so they are my Boys!

It is amazing how fast labs learn. This is the worst year I have ever had. I haven't killed over a dozen ducks over my dog, and he has already learned to look for the ducks. It is awesome to see that look of excitement when he hears or sees the ducks flying.
