How many implants are they proposing? You could do an "All on 4" technique where they place 2 implants near front (where canines are) and 2 near back. They angle them as to avoid the sinuses. Then a denture or even roundhouse bridge can be screwed in.
You could also do several implants with crowns and bridges. The latter will preserve more bone b/c bone will remain where implants are..........although it'll be a lot more expensive.
Either will work. With first option, if something breaks as far as the denture or bridge, it'll be expensive b/c you'll have to replace the entire piece. With the latter, if something breaks, you are only removing that portion and repairing it. It really matters how much you have available to spend......and how much bone is present in certain areas.
Implants are very expensive, b/c the entire system including parts are expensive for the dentist to purchase. For what you are having done, you are looking at several thousand dollars just in cost to the dentist before you ever sit in the chair.
I was asking about age and such, because if someone was young (in their 20s, 30s, even 40's) i'd be apt to say stay away from anterior implants on the maxillary anterior area. As long as you are alive, tissues are constantly moving.....including teeth and gingiva. They've been doing implants in Asia for a whole lot longer than we have in the US. They refuse to publish long term data b/c of the results. The esthetics 20 years after is usually pretty bad as far as where the bone height and gingiva sit. For an older person, it's not that big of a deal. For a 25 year old........for it to look bad when you are 40....obviously isn't desirable. Implants are pretty much drilling a hole in bone and screwing it into hole.....and then allowing bone to adhere/grow into it (osseointegration). You can't just screw it out if you want to remove it once osseointegration has taken place. It's a complicated/extensive procedure and bone around it has to be removed.
