I agree, if you cant kill a hog with a 7mag or .300win mag i don't think a new caliber will help. Both of these calibers are fully capable of a 1000 yard shot. It's just that 1000 yard shots are difficult regardless of what gun or caliber you shoot. That being said i would use whatever excuse i needed to buy a .338 lapua
