Club Question: Smith Point/Donelson Point
Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly about this club in Bolivar County...don't hold back one way or the other. Thanks
Re: Club Question: Smith Point/Donelson Point
Buddy took me squirrel hunting there one time. Pretty place.

Re: Club Question: Smith Point/Donelson Point
I've hunted the club that borders that place. Don't know much except they built a high fence down the property line. Never understood that because the neighbor's place had bigger deer. That may have changed and Donelson may have improved their herd, but I wouldn't fence off my place from a place that has had several 170s and 180s and even a 200+ killed off it.

Re: Club Question: Smith Point/Donelson Point
I don't think Donaldson built the fence. Donaldson has been doing some serious management for several years now from what i understand. I have several friends in there and have hunted it several times with them. Cool place.
Re: Club Question: Smith Point/Donelson Point
Donaldson did not build the fence. Concordia did. Donaldson does the best they can at herd management but there is a good bit of private land scattered through the club. From what i hear a lot of deer get shot before they reach full potential. There are still some really good deer killed every year though. Lots of rattlesnakes too.

Yes that is about what I know. Always seems to be a little turmoil, but no more there than any other club back there. All said and done, it is a dang good hunting place.COONDOG wrote:Donaldson did not build the fence. Concordia did. Re: Club Question: Smith Point/Donelson Point
Smith Point is the LLC of about 3000 acres in the middle of the property known as Donaldson Point. There is also the Hunting Club called Donaldson Point. There is also several plots of land in the middle of the place that belong to non-members. So, some own shares in Smith Point, some own their own 80 acres and enter it into Donaldson Point hunting club and are allowed to hunt all of the property that is entered in the club, and the non-members (ones that choose not to enter it into the club/or don't have enough acres) just hunt their own little sections. You can only imagine 10% of the turmoil that could come about with that scenario. They have killed some pretty good deer in the last few years though. There are several members on here.
