Alot of people have started doing this. I think the prices are crazy myself on things with the two companies. But its the fastest way.ducknbuck1 wrote:I quit shipping using UPS or FedEx a while back. Their rates are just stupid. I use USPS on my shipping and it is a lot less. Example. I was shipping an item that I sold on ebay to Canada a few years ago. UPS and FedEx both wanted over $125 for shipping with all the insurance. USPS did the shipping same time frame and insurance for under $30.00.
Ok, but am I allowed to do that will my line of work as an attorney? You come to me and pay me for something that you expect to receive for your payment. Well guess what? I got sick and had a bad morning on the day of your hearing and you didn't pay me more to insure that I wouldn't be sick or having a bad day. So instead of giving you the service you thought you paid for you are only going to get what I feel like I owe, which is $100 worth.kb7722 wrote:They will take responsibility up to the value that you declared the package for. Get over it and pay the extra or YOU take on the risk of having to pay. There is no such thing as a free meal.
That's not how insurance works. You're an attorney?woody wrote:Ok, but am I allowed to do that will my line of work as an attorney? Is that not what UPS and FedEx are basically saying? That is not how I practice law, but tried to put in perspective. Nevertheless, I received my new rifle.

Exactly. I comes down to risk and liability.Smoke68 wrote:That's not how insurance works. You're an attorney?woody wrote:Ok, but am I allowed to do that will my line of work as an attorney? All different becuase of cost of fuel on shipments. We have B1, B2, and B3 points. B3 is the farthest point away from a sort facility. USPS does not charge additional costs bc usually each medium size city has a office. UPS and fedex dont have this ability to have these.dukmisr2005 wrote:I shipped 3 identical package to 3 cities. Jena La, Jonesboro Ar, and Inverness Ms via UPS all were to a residence. . Which was cheapest and most expensive. It was a box of business cards
Jena was $7 Jonesboro $15 and Inverness $16. Makes no sense why closest was most $$ and furthest the cheapest.

Last time I checked UPS and FedEx were shipping companies, not insurance companies. 2 guns of equal weight and size should cost the same to ship to the same point regardless of value. The cost of actually moving a package from point A to point B doesn't change because gun A is worth more than gun B, the cost of insuring gun A does though. And determining that cost should be between the shipping company and their insurance provider. There should be a breaking point on their insurance coverage where items of a certain value are going to be over insured and other items are going to be under insured. Their business model should account for those items that are under insured and be able to absorb the cost of replacing those items if necessary. Guess I'm just tired of businesses cutting corners and asking their customers to do their job for them. Like the damn "self-checkout" lines.Smoke68 wrote:That's not how insurance works. I've got to argue with the whole self-checkout lane statement. I would much rather scan all my own groceries than deal with the rude, lazy cheeseburger at Walmart that doesn't want to be there throwing my groceries in the bag and bruising my damn bananas while she smacks her gums. That's just me though.JaMak84 wrote:Guess I'm just tired of businesses cutting corners and asking their customers to do their job for them.
