Filson
I got a Filson coat for my bday and want a liner for what. Which one should I get, vest or jacket, wool or moleskin?

Re: Filson
I went with the wool jacket. With just a vest under the outer shell your arms can still be kind of cool. I also zip the wool liner out and use it as a jacket itself.
Which coat did you get?

Re: Filson
I've got a wax shelter cloth from 4-5 yrs ago. I went with a regular cotton liner. Not wool or moleskin. It is heavy and really weather proof. I have a wool vest I wear separate if it's really chilly.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

Re: Filson
I got the shelter cloth outfitter.

Re: Filson
I have a tin cloth field coat and a wool vest liner. I can't wear the liner unless it is below freezing.

Re: Filson
I have the same coat and went with the wool jacket. A friend had the coat with the moleskin liner and he was complaining about it not keeping him warm. Have not regretted the heavier liner.
Re: Filson
I've got a filson wool jacket liner I'll sell ya for cheap. Worn once. Send me a pm.
Re: Filson
Been looking at all the different Filson jackets recently and thinking about taking the plunge. I haven't found a jacket that will last more than a couple of seasons as it is so might as well go ahead and spend the money on one that will last. I was wondering which jacket you guys might recommend the tin cloth field coat or the shelter waterfowl upland? Im a rather large guy at 6'3 290.
Re: Filson
I think tin vs. shelter cloth is a personal preference. Both preform well from the reading I have done here. Go by someplace like Circle 7 that carries Filson, and put hands on both tin cloth and shelter cloth. you'll make your mind up quickly.smith wrote:Been looking at all the different Filson jackets recently and thinking about taking the plunge. Then the decision is really the coat style. Both of those coats you mentioned will do the job well. Both have similar features.
So I really just broke your one question down into 2 questions you have to ask yourself. Lot of help I am huh?

Re: Filson
If you are around Madison and want to try it on, the one I got (yesterday and still has the tags on it) is a XXL and I need a XL so I am about to send it back to exchange, if you wanted it I would sell it to you for what it cost (which is cheaper than noraml since it has been discontinued). It is the shelter cloth outfitter which is discontinued.smith wrote:Been looking at all the different Filson jackets recently and thinking about taking the plunge.
