Re: Coaching salaries
I find it funny that everyone talks about how Ms. State and Ole Miss cant pay the type salaries that Florida pays!!! Both Mullen and Freeze made more this year than Muschamp and both are going into the $4 million range after this year. I don't see either one willing to leave what they have now to go to Florida. Its not like they both are 7-4 this year.

Re: Coaching salaries
I don't see Freeze ever leaving. I think he means it when he says it is his dream job. I think Mullen will leave if the right opportunity opened up and I am not so sure that Florida is not that job. People forget how fertile the recruiting grounds are in Florida.
It is a Top 5 to 7 program nationally IMO.

Re: Coaching salaries
I just hope Mullen realizes the pressure difference he would have in Florida compared to Starkville. We are used to being a mediocre team. Going to
a place that demands top 5 teams season after season is a lot of pressure. No matter how good the recruits are in that area.
Making $4m in Starkville goes a lot farther than making $4m-$5m in Gainesville in more ways than one.
And I think Freeze is staying put for a while. His Ms ties have him grounded I think.

How do you like your Hope and Change?
Re: Coaching salaries
I would be shocked if Mullen went to Florida as long as Foley is the AD.. They do not have a very good relationship.. Looking back over the last 5 coaches at Florida, only 1 of them was there for more than 5 years.. Doesn't sound like a very stable job that I would want..

Re: Coaching salaries
The Rebels are salivating on the thought of Mullen leaving...
Tubbs had people convinced Oxford was his home in a pine box...
I dont trust any of them until they sign the dotted line or are pulling out of town. Atleast this time around we arent having to worry about the NAACP crying wolf when its time to fire a coach. Change has a'come round here.

Re: Coaching salaries
Given how weak the SEC East is right now, coupled with LSU trending down (the SECw cross rival of Florida) and in view of the recruiting bed, the Florida job is good enough to at least grab the attention of any top tier coach. Moreover, Florida does not have state income tax, so $4.5 there is not as different in Gainsville as compared to Starkvegas or Oxford as one may believe.
Again, I think Freeze is in Oxford until he either retires or is fired. On a long enough time line, they all get fired.
Mullen would leave State for the right job. I am biased, but I think he would leave State for LSU if offered.

most rebels i know hope he stays there forever. they think he's hit a perfect storm and his success is minimal in the confrence except beating the rebs as of recent.
and "@#$%#" tubbs...

Re: Coaching salaries
Mullen will not be going to Florida. He and Foley do not care for each other and Dans wife hated Florida. And as the old saying goes if momma aint happy aint nobody happy.
We live in a world where these recruits could care less how teams were 5 years ago much less 20 years ago. If you haven't read the GQ article on Ms Community College football (mainly East Ms) you should read it. It gives you a perspective of what these kids think when picking a school. They are basically looking for a school that is winning now and on TV because they are going to be there for 3 years and then to the NFL. The TV deals and SEC network has put schools on an even field when it comes to recruiting.

True...and we bulldogs know that beating us isnt much of an accomplishment.........

***Edit***After taking a dump and thinking this over, none of my Rebel friends like him and they all hope he leaves, the sooner the better. A coach that has beat you 4 of the last 5 times (his tenure) and you want him to stay? Puff puff pass ninja, ive have good and great, but neither would make sense of that statement.
Re: Coaching salaries
Why would a UOM fan care what his record is against anyone BUT UOM? You want any coach batting .800 against you GONE... yesterday. Rival or not.ScottyLee wrote: most rebels i know hope he stays there forever. they think he's hit a perfect storm and his success is minimal in the confrence except beating the rebs as of recent.

Re: Coaching salaries
i could give a $#!+ if he's gone or not (he won't be, fla won't offer him a job) as most rebel faithful i know personally.stang67 wrote:Why would a UOM fan care what his record is against anyone BUT UOM? Re: Coaching salaries
I think both coaches stay a while. I would think Mullen would be the first choice to get a bigger job. With all that Freeze has done he has yet to make an impact offensively which is his specialty and that would worry me if I was an AD.
