Stoeger 2000

Not that I'm givin' up my SX2 or anything, but, what do ya'll know about a Stoeger 2000. Think I read in the latest issue of DU that this was a subsidiary of Benelli and used their action. Are they any good? Suppose to be less than $500. I might get one if it is the same as a Benelli for half the price.

I didn't read the article. I bought the gun in December. Less than $400 for black synthetic. Same recoil bolt system as a SBE. Comes ready for swivels and sling if you hike into public areas like me. It came with four chokes and wrench. Real simple to take down and clean. I have shot light dove 2.75's and hevi-shot 3' inch shells, no problems. It is the fastest cycling auto I have ever shot.

Two negatives
1) Won't shoot 3.5's

2)It is very light (I think around six pounds)and you will be glad it won't shoot 3.5's.

The best thing is it don't miss (maybe its just me ).

They come in wood and camo. Get one. Or if you wanna try one out, I'll come hunt with you.

Love my Stoeger and for $325 at Dick's Sporting Goods, cant go wrong in my opinion.

Can't go wrong with the stoeger. It is based off the benelli system. I have a SBE and it has never hung up. I've had it for 3 years and only clean it after season each year. All I do is spray rem oil in it after each use unless I drop it in the mud or something like that. They are low maintenance autos.

I bought one in november and carried it to kansas on a duck/pheasent hunt and it was great.I have quit using my A-5 and now use the stoeger all the time.For the price i think its the best deal in the gun market.

What I understood about the using the Benelli system was that Benelli sent the attorneys to investigate and ended up buying the company. That came through the grape vine, just so you know what it might be worth....... Its a shame that don't shoot a 3.5" shell, guess I'd have to keep using the pump for the geese.

I shot want at the DU convention in Memphis. I really liked it and almost bought it instead of my Franchi. The only reason I didn't is because it would not shot 3.5" shells. It will be my next purchase. I asked the gun dealer why they did not make it in 3.5. He told me straight out that it was made by Benelli and if they made the Stoeger in 3.5 no one would buy the SBE.

had mine for 3 yrs it's been swimming 3 or 4 times no problems at all and it shoots great great gun for the money

"fastest cycling auto i've ever shot"--this matters because....WHY? i've never seen any auto so slow that it wasn't finished cycling before i could drop the hammer again, so that's a moot point

Bought one in Max-4 camo in the 03-04 season and I like it, I normally like shooting my stack barrels, Citori or Baikal, but it is a well made gun and functions flawlessly for me.
