Shotguns: Camo or Not?
What is the preference of the MSDucks crew....shotguns that are camo-ed or black or wood?
Re: Shotguns: Camo or Not?
Black, then get Adam Milner to dip it in bottomland. I'm looking for a used M2, then that's what I'm doing.

Re: Shotguns: Camo or Not?
A camo clad gun is really a relatively new idea. And it is typically done to increase the "cool factor" of the firearm. My cheapo Mossberg 500A is camo-clad, but I've only been using it for the past decade or so. I bought it because I wanted a pump, and that best fit my needs regarding price, weight, barrel length, maintenance, etc. Prior to that I only had a wood and blued shotgun - - - and killed plenty of ducks with it. (along with squirrels, rabbits, doves, etc.)
My advice? Get whichever gun you can hit with, and don't be too concerned with the camo feature.

We've used all kinds of stocks as products chaged over the years:
Wood:
870
Model 12
Auto-5
B-2000
Synthetic Black:
Super 90
Gold
Synthetic Camo:
Gold
Result:
Ducks and geese don't seem to care one way or the other.

Black or wood. Pretty sure if it were camo i will be hungover and not be able to find it.
Take it easy and if its easy take it home.
Re: Shotguns: Camo or Not?
prefer black synthetic. The game does not care. It is my choice because I hate scratching pretty wood, and I aint paying extra for camo.
There will be a day....

Got a camp SB2 because I got a great deal on it used. Had I been buying a new one I would have gone with black synthetic and had birdsong coat it in blackT. Ducks don't give a dang so long as you aren't shooting a flashy chrome gun.

Black Synthetic just because wood can crack and split. I will never pay extra for a camo gun!! I have been shooting a 24 yr old 870 (started out wood) and a 18 yr old BPS. Recently bought my son a Stoeger 3500 (black) and like it okay, but I will stick with my old pumps. Sometimes, I will carry Dad's shiny old Citori; just because. I say get what you like and in the long run you will be happy!! Good luck!!

Black for my semi-auto everyday gun. Easy to clean, durable, and you don't have to worry about the black wearing off or fading like a dipped camo gun. I can clean the outside of my 10 year old SBE II with a little oil and make it look almost brand new. If it were dipped, it would show signs of wear and would be fading. Functionally the black is just as good as a camo gun for not flaring birds. Just my preference. My O/U and other guns I take extra good care of are all wood/blued.

For a duck gun, black synthetic. After a hunt or two it looks mud colored anyway. Same for my carry pistols and 22.
Nice guns - wood/blue.
