Just an FYI here, but you are required to have a pilots license to fly some of the bigger ones.

Just like "Assault Rifles" I suppose. Government has them to keep an eye on you but doesn't want you to have them.

From what I've been told, the regulations on RC planes have always been out there, they are just getting more attention now. As for the drones, there is a weight limit that opens them up to the stricter regs. I "think" it's 44lbs or so, but don't hold me to that. If you use one to capture footage, and sell that footage, then you are required to hold a commercial pilots license.

Yeah, you gotta get a medical and a flight review before you can pilot a drone. Lol.

I know a few guys that used to fly RC planes at our local airport. They'd always fly late in the evening or Sunday afternoons when no planes were around. Now they've moved about 10 miles from town to a grass airstrip. Said the FAA made em relocate.

Saw a video the other day where a drone flew over an apartment complex and caught a topless sunbather on the roof. Didn't show anything, but mentioned that she had "no expiation of privacy" in that situation.

I'm talking about the $800-$2000 range drone.your suppose to have a pilot license? I guess the few people I know with them aren't too worried about it.

^^ from what i understand from a friend that has one, you only have to have a pilots license if it goes over a certain height...and commercial/profit use is a no-no w/faa for the time being.
he has the lower end model and uses a program designed to reverse the fish-eye effect of go pro type cams...i assuming the higher end models use more sophisticated cams.

I'm more interested if anybody had used them in ag. I think it would be a "neat" thing to have but I can't really justify it. It seems like it would be "neat" to scout duck holes with as well. Is there a screen that you look at to see where you are going? How does that work?

One of our memebers just got a call from the FAA when he was using one to video properties adn post them on youtube for marketing. As said before if you are using it for commercial gain you have to have a permit or pilot license.
