Delta Wings Festival in Drew-Oct 25

Kick start your duck season by joining the fun on October 25 in Drew. Gumbo cook-off and World Sanctioned Calling Contests. One thousand dollar first place money for Gumbo Cooking. Ms State Duck Calling Contest and Ms Delta Regional Duck Calling Contest. Winners qualify for World Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Youth and Meat Contests (individual and team) also. There were some kids rides and a bouncy house last year I think. May get over run by the locals though.
I'll have my 3yo with me. He had a blast last time. The DW committee people gave him a sponsor bag with call and goose bands. He was loving it.

ended up placing 2nd in the gumbo competition....with one of the oddest gumbos we've ever cooked, no less. couldn't figure out what it was, but apparently the judges like greasy gumbo (first place last year had grease visibly floating on top)....???...then again, they're bbq judges, so i guess it is just a natural mouth-feel for them.

slim crowd on our side, but didn't go over to the calling comp side to know how well that side did.

enjoyed it and will be back again next year.
