Bigcountry, Why don't you start a new Duck Organization. We'll all get rich, but lobby for the hunter.

MSDAWG,

There already is such a group. It's call Delta Waterfowl. I've been supporting them for years. Long before the hats, stickers, tee-shirts, and now truck tags. I support them because the support EDUCATION. Education is the key to the future of duck hunting as well as the key to everything else. My money goes to the kids that are tomorrows biologist, scientists, and educators. DW also stands up for the waterfowl hunters, and they don't mind saying so. I agree with GC. DU is a conservation group that thinks buying up land is the key to that conservation. Maybe so, but they won't take a stand for the hunter. It's to controversial for them. Thats's OK, just go to DW's site and read a little. Then call them, and ask questions. I bet you'd agree.... :D

BigCountry, since you posted this absurd anti-DU propaganda, why don't you explain to the board the logic behind your assertion that DU asking the federal govt. for more money for vital CRP, GRP and other conservation programs for the PPR region, must necessarily mean that such money must come from or reduce the farm subsidy money. Using your logic, any money the government might spend for defense, medicare, or any other non-farm subsidy related program is taking money away from or that could be going to farm subsidies. I don't have to be a farmer to know that this twisted logic is BS.

Delta also supports more money for these conservation programs in the PPR. Right now, not enough of the conservation program money is being used in the PPR region, and the only way to fix it is to either pull money from existing conservation programs (not good) or to ask for additional monies. Ironically, the crop subsidies available are encouraging landowners in the PPR to break up virgin grasslands to plant crops to qualify to receive the subsidies. IF they could get money through a conservation program, then they perhaps would not be inclined to go this route. Surely, everyone agrees that continued destruction of the PPR will have a detrimental effect on the ducks. Since by your anti-DU stance, I can presume that you must then at least by a member of Delta Waterfowl. Why don't you take a moment to read your DW magazine issues from 2004 ---there were numerous articles about these very topics.

You have, or should have enough information available to you to dispel the absurd rumors and propaganda that you spew. Even if you don't read your DW magazines (and just look at the pretty pictures), there have been numerous threads on this board which contain posts from DU reps Chad Manlove and Billie Ray Fann that reference good information about DU and these issues ---information that would answer you questions.

Thus, assuming you can read, I assume that you just choose to ignore the facts and desire to remain mired in baseless rumor and propaganda. And that, IMO, qualifies as "dumb".

I would like Chad to coment more on the no till practices that have recently been legally allowed the last five years in the northern grain states and there effect on the migration. Are there any studies on this and if so could you please post them. If this is affecting the migration then DU should step up and lobby against it. They should point out that it is affecting the natural migration and in escence allowing hunting over baited land. What is DU's position on this Chad?

Uh...dude...no-till is good for ducks. It may not be good for Mississippi duck hunters, but it's good for ducks. It's also better for the land where it's practiced, so I doubt there will be any large anti-no till rallys in DC.
To get pissed at DU because some farmers aren't disking in the fall is silly, but what I've come to expect from some willing to blame anyone. Check out Delta Waterfowl's position (if they have one) on no-till. I promise you that they're not real eager to rush to the aid of southern duck hunters, nobody is, because we whine too much. Too many of us feel entitled to kill ducks every day, whatever the circumstances. And we b**ch and moan every time we don't. Southerners are the ones that came up with the brilliant DU/PETA conspiracy, the DU/corn dumping conspiracy, and get pissed off every time Minnesota kills more ducks than Mississippi. News flash guys...Minnesota has always killed more ducks than Mississippi.

And it's not hunting over bait...no-till is a normal agricultural practice...c'mon use your head.

Sorry to disappoint you, but that's not true.

You may not like to hunt on a place like Matthews Brake, but I do. Frankly, I am glad to see that DU is involved to put an end to this nonsense that the animal rights groups have started. Maybe you should reconsider your position on DU.

So when you claim that DU won't take a stand for the hunter. What exactly are you referring to?

PETA and I would like to know.

Po' Monkey,

You didn't hear that loud thud from up the street a few weeks ago? That was me hittin' the floor when the Mrs. told me we are expecting number 4. I had a "sinkin' spell" as my grandmother use to say and have just now come to my senses.

Will you represent me against the city? This damn water has gotta change!!!!!

After reading the first page of this and ignoring it ever since and it still being here has me wondering:

Does this train of thought have a caboose???

No they are not feeding the ducks to short stop them
Yes the weather is the reason they haven't come on down

Any more questions? Is that so hard to understand.

Po monkey

First dont attack my intelegence level, this is my opinonand i am entitled to it.

if du and dw want more money for the ppr then it can come from somewhere else. there are plenty of bs gov programs that can be reduced or eliminated to acomidate. Now i know all you non ag boys have seen the papers were the ewg has published the amount of farm subsities that we recive. but not many people know what it takes to farm or how much it cost.

there are already great incentives for land owners to put land i wrp and crp. but the gov has made it such a long and impossible process that no one wants to do it.

my argument is that du sponsored a bill that would have taken away from farm subsities. i know this because i had a converstion with a lobbiest for DU and he flat told me that they sponsored the knowing what it would do to farming. they did change their position but it will take more than that to convince me they wont do it again. the day farm subsities are reduced or eliminated you and your family will not be able to afford the cost of food in this country and your perfect little world will get turned upside down. you think $4 is a lot for a gallon of milk wait untill it is $10 or higher because feed prices go up so high the farmers cant afford to feed thier cows without higher prices.

without farming in this nation it will crumble. because without farming millons would be out of work.
maybe next year will be better
