Re: Question about duck season dates
Was told by a guy in the know. Nov 27th(Thanksgiving day) - Jan 25 No splits. Youth hunts Nov 22 & Jan 31.
Re: Question about duck season dates
I believe that this is correct, and again, if my aging memory serves me right, there is a maximum number of allowed splits, but no required minimum. I guess that we shall soon see what the Commission decides. A Thanksgiving opening day is fine with me, as would be an opener coinciding with the opener of deer gun season.Smoke68 wrote:I read "somewhere" last year that the season could not have more than 3 segments. Re: Question about duck season dates
The season "may" be split into three segments. Which means it could run straight through.
I know the Arkansas hunters don't like it, but my preference would be an opener on the Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving (which would give us an additional weekend), then a closure until the following Saturday, then straight through to January 25. That schedule equals 60 days.

Re: Question about duck season dates
I would love a straight season with no breaks
Re: Question about duck season dates
Another structure would be open the weekend before Thanksgiving; close until the following Friday through Sunday; a couple of days' closure the following week, then straight through to the end.
