Electrician question

Postby brandon327 » Sun Aug 03, 2014 9:57 pm

I am working on a outdoor kitchen. Can you put a home run of 12-2 for the power of a circuit the run 14-2 to light and 12-2 to the plugs. Any light or ceiling fan you put up will never pull more than 15 amps. Put it all on a 20 amp breaker. All the lights and fans I have seen have smaller wire than 14 on them.

Distance is the key factor! Current and voltage drop is the factor distance plays. I suggest using 10-2 if your running this very far.

The kitchen is going to have its own service bcecause it is 20x24 building. I was just reading the nec code and the way I read it you can do what I was talking about.
