i shoot a browning gold but i would have to say for reliability and overall abuse taking an 870 is your best bet

go ahead and ante up the money for the benelli super black eagle (the new one--SBE2). You won't be disappointed.
I own one, and love it. Others may disagree. Since I have now opened up a can of worms, let the bashing begin, boys!

If you're going to get a SBEII shoot the thing before you plunk down the change. I was not impressed...at all.

Get a Stoeger Model 2000 (made by Benelli with half the price tag). Have had mine for about 2 years and love it.

I am trying hard to remember any Benelli that I have ever hunted around that did NOT jam or misfire. "The Emporer Has No Clothes." By the way, I used to own 2 of the darn things. I have been asked to sue them twice for not honoring warranties. It is really cool to watch when barrel rings cracked and the barrels fell off. I have seen that in person twice. You guys keep buying them so I have more funny stories! :D

I prefer Brownings or Berettas with 28" or 30" tubes. If the gun has a really extra long reciever like the Xtrema or a Benelli, I REALLY want a long tube to smooth the swing out.

I have had my Nova since they first came out and never had a problem. That gun has paddled my boat and never gave the first sign of a problem, it also stays in my truck the whole year. I'll clean it before a dove shoot.

Preach on GC. At one time (past-tence) I owned two Benelli M1-S90's, barrels fell off both while shooting at ducks, broke barrel rings also. Then I tried the SBE. That was a mistake to say the least. It was a black stick of crap that was the most expensive single shot in history. Move on to Beretta. First 390 then 391. No complaints from me, just shoot um and clean um. BUT I will admit I keep a 870 behind the truck seat in case of emergency's.... :D

I've had a SBE for about 5 years...no problems at all. I broke down and bought one of those Wad Wizzard choke tubes and it is a slobber nocker on ducks especially with Hevi-shot.
Now my stand by and ole faithful is a Browning Citori 30'.
I have another Benelli Nova Ducks Unlimited that has been on one hunt if you are interested....

Browning Gold Hunter has 5 years of abuse and going strong. Also a Beretta 390 that my wife shoots that is sweet.

I've had a Super X 2 for 3 years, great gun, no problems. This year I bought a SBEII so far I really like it. Unfortunatly I have not got to shoot it very much. Hopefully that will change over the end of this month.
