Mississippi is ready for some change

Postby JDgator » Wed Jun 04, 2014 6:40 am

I see the race between Cochran and McDaniel is too close to call. Cochran has been in the senate for almost 40 years, longer than most forum members have been alive. I can see where people who aren't happy with the status quo might think he's had more than his turn at "fixing things."

I think it is telling that Thad did not even speak at his election day party last night. I don't think he wants to run but his being forced to by Haley Barbour and his crew to preserve that seat in order to make more money. Thad has been good for this state and is to be commended. I think he time has past. I am not a McDaniel fan but I think he may bring youthful energy, if nothing else, to the position.

3 more weeks of campaign hades...

looks as though mc daniel will come away with the seat, given the high likelihood that the 3rd candidate votes will go against cochran...and voter turnout is the same or greater than yesterday's.

Seems strange that it's taking this long to get the final results in. Hope it's just slow people and not some kind of conspiracy because
we will never hear the end of that.

We gotta get the younger generation out to vote.. No disrespect to the older generation, but I think it is them that are still blindly voting for Cochran..because that's what they have always done..They area afraid of the youthful energy that McDaniel is tryign to bring or they just don't know anything but "Vote For Thad". I don't care who you are or what profession you work in, 41 years is enough. The fact that Cochran hasn't even been to MS through all this, no town halls, no debate, no "apperances", etc... would be enough to make me not vote for him, it would "appear" by his "lack" of action that he doesn't care about MS or it's people's wants/needs...

Damned if he does, damned if he don't. If he had spent the last year bouncing around the state campaigning for re-election, everybody would be giving him hell for wasting tax payers money campaigning instead of being in Washington working. Not that any of them do any actual "work", but that would be spin.

I just have 1 question and I'm not a McDaniel fan either but, What kind of man leaves his sick, dying wife in a nursing home while he bounces all over the country and world while living in another state? No justification for that in my book. Sorry

Yeah that is a headscratcher. The old guy even left his campaign party without addressing the crowd. Sounds like he doesn't really give a crap any more.

Totally agree, there is no way in hell he plans on being there another 6 years just to "fight for good ole Mississippi". Not attacking him or endorsing the other side, it's all really embarrassing for our state. I'll be glad when it's over. I hate politics.

I am not sure he is competent enough anymore to get up and speak. I haven't heard him say more than, "this is Thad Cochran and I approve this message." through the whole thing. I have been disappointed in Greg Harper for running interference for him. It's like they are trying to protect the truth from coming out. They know if he goes back in/ retires....that the appointed person will run as an incumbent next time around.
I don't appreciate them... (greg harper, haley, etc) trying to keep it out of the people's hands.

If Thad wins the election and then vacates his seat, then the Governor of Mississippi gets to appoint a fill-in Senator until a special election is held two years later. I'm wondering if the 'ole boy wants to retire but the power brokers are pushing him to hang in another year or so...

Now you guys are starting to think political. This is exactly whats happening. Bet the campaign effort from the Cochran party picks up several notches here in the next two weeks or something "happens"to knock McDaniel out and Thad wins a close one...then retires within the year.

When you drive around Mississippi in a Prevost campaign coach, that will tell you all you need to know about a politician.
Ol Thad could care less about this election, doesn't even want to be in it. Just wants to stay a part of the wealthy and powerful circle of Washington friends.

Vote 'em all out.....

May be happening by the poor choices of McDaniel's campaign supporters. New report about three of his stooges locking themselves in a courthouse till 2am
with access to voting ballots. Idiots. I had some dealings with one of these guys during the presidential election when he was working for Newt Gingrich. This
guy is a piece of work and anyone that would hire him makes me question their judgment. Chris M. better get a hold on his employees or he's going to loose out.

sounds like chris m is already well on his way in the transition from trial lawyer to full-fledged politician. talk about a catch-22 for ms republican voters.
