Need help, advice, axe DS

Postby sevenhead » Thu Apr 03, 2014 8:22 am

Soooooo we're having a little girl in August and my wife was looking at daycares in the Madison area. Long story short, I threw up after she told me the cost.

? is anybody know of any ladies taking care of infants in the area? If i'm going to be paying that much I'd rather pay an individual thats reputable. Besides that any beginners advice for little girls?

Any particular location in Madison you are are looking? Don't know any ladies keeping kids but from what my 3yr old is learing at day care I don't have a problem paying the money every month.

We live in gluckstadt but both work in Madison, so anywhere within both of those, we've talked to a few and they're already booked until the end of 2015

Congratulations. Daycare is why I was happy, happy, happy that the In-Laws decided to stay here while mine's an infant. I don't know what we're gonna do when they go back to China.

As for advice, do as I am, stock up on bullets and bourbon, and get a lawyer with daughters. :P

And pray, pray, pray.

we live in madison as well and are expecting a little girl in June. we ran into the same thing. all of the ladies we called about were booked up as were most of the daycares. individuals vs. daycare prices were all pretty similar. ended up getting on the waiting list at FBC ridgeland...still waiting to find out if we got in. i've learned 2 things about daycare. its harder to get into a daycare than it is to get into a public university and the costs are about the same.

Its definitely one of those things I never thought of. I don't stress about anything except for that cash flow and daycare is about to put a hurtin on mine. Anybody got some vicodin . . . and some whiskey

You never thought about daycare costs??? Bet that was a rude awakening. I know you don't want to go too far away from home but expand your search area a little. Having a piece of mind about a good daycare and them taking care of that little with the best care is worth the money and a little time driving to a good one.

Exactly, y'all have me thinking that opening a big nice daycare there may be a good business opportunity........put a pediatric dental clinic/pediatrician's office combo in the other end. :D

My wife has some relatives that started a day care years ago. They built it up made a killing and then sold it for a good chunk and retired. If I had the money to get started I would let my wife start one up in a heart beat.

Up on soapbox- look at letting wife stay home at least first year. You will likely drop in tax bracket losing one income, get tax break for one income and you know the one taking care of your daughter really cares for her well being. Seriously do the math, it might surprise you. $600 month for daycare, you have to make $1000 as taxes will be taken out.

Still can't understand why people want their children reared in their earliest years by someone else.....

Off soapbox. Congrats on the daughter, mine has me wrapped! Nothing like when she climbs in the recliner with me at night just before bed time...........nothing like it!

this ^^^ would be great. Only problem would be my wife is the bread winner in the household. Though jumping back down a bracket would be nice. This last move up was brutal.
