A decent gas can?!

Postby southernvaughan » Mon Mar 03, 2014 12:57 pm

Anyone know where you can still buy one that you don't need 3 damn people to perform the sequence needed to get the little trickle of fuel out?! Damn government crap!!

Got to go to Canada. Or get one like the dirt bike folks use.

I've got the vp 5gal drum with spout. Thick plastic. Well made. The hose is extra. But good for small tanks.

Metal Safety cans suck. They rust and it goes right in the tank.

You should thank California from what I hear. We went through the same issue. We ended up with some that have a yellow push button. They suck relative to the classics, but get the job done. A guy who knows his gas told us that the new tops keep the gas from losing some of its volatility with the constant seal. A small positive.

I kind of like the new blitz can with the on/off button. But I only like it in a one or two gallon can. Anything larger is a hassle. Even I can be clean with the smaller container.

Did I miss something? Are gas cans not just gas cans anymore?

The cans are the same. But the spouts aren't.

I have seen documented footage where the vapors within the spout when pouring have the potential of igniting fuel in the cans. May have been on Dateline or some other similar show.

I always just take the top off and pour thru a funnel when filling something up with gas.
Are we gonna get wet?

Summary: gas vapor + ignition source = BOOM

Indeed correct. Though I did not replay the video in its' entirety, did it not allow the possibility that the vapors themselves would create its' own ignition source?
