Re: College Baseball 2014
Saw the Dogs scrimmage Saturday. Was 65 degrees. Probably be 35 on the home opener with a 20mph NW wind. Nothing really jumped out at me other than our catchers seemed to be a little slow getting throws off to 2B. Nice defense all around the field from both starters and the young guys. Detz looked a little more comfortable at 3B than he did last season but still let some balls eat him up.
Are we gonna get wet?

Can't speak for our pitching but that Null kid for them is the truth. They knew that up front though. 12Ks and 3Hs through 8 is ridiculous. He threw well over 100 pitches and damn near 80 were strikes. Thought they were gonna give it up in the 9th but no go.

week one is in the books. still way to early, but what'd ya learn from your perspective clubs if anything? i listened via radio to all of the rebels games.
pithing was okay, we hit 6 hr's to only 23 total last year. played okay defensively. think we only had 2 errors for the weekend. of course haven't really seen enough to gauge how the year will go. but after 3 games, we have more offense than i thought we would, and was slightly impressed with some of the new defensive player moves.

State stuck out 32 in 3 games. This is a problem.
On a positive note, the freshman that pitched Sunday looked good

Re: College Baseball 2014
rebels struck out a bunch as well. something like 25 times or close to it. i'll reserve judgement on our club concerning strikeouts till a few more series are played

Went to the game on Sunday. I don't see pitching being a problem for us but I hope our bats wake up soon. Geez... Thank goodness for ol Ninja Pirtle.

Re: College Baseball 2014
We all know baseball is a finicky sport. I'm not overly concerned as we are still trying to piece together a lineup and get a feel for our rotation. That being said, I am beginning to get a little anxious about our contact. We need to find a groove with the sticks and get going. This club has major major talent, it just seems like we are underperforming right now.

This bulldog squad has gotta find their identity, quick. Got some young, new faces out there. I hate we didn't renew the Easton contract, but those Adidas bats seem to have more pop from what I've seen.

The bats come alive when the weather warms up...State will be fine. If memory serves, the last two years they have started slow and picked up as the season progresses. It is going to be an interesting year in the SEC, as always.
