Re: Bad deal....
I saw this on the news, and I gotta say that something just does NOT sound right in this whole situation. I know that we don't have all the information, but from what I gather, it went something like this:
Patron A Complained to Patron B for texting during movie previews.
Words were exchanged and Patron A went to theater management and complained.
Patron A came back into the theater and more words were exchanged.
Patron B throws popcorn at Patron A.
Patron A pulls out pistol and shoots Patron B as well as the wife of Patron B.
Like I said, we don't have all of the information here, but at what point is it "OK" to shoot someone with whom you disagree? I don't see having a bag of overpriced popcorn thrown at you as rising to that level.

I agree, I can't help but believe that we aren't getting all the facts. The guy is a retired police chief. He knows better. But, I have seen the same story repetitively so maybe he just lost it. If it truly happened like they are reporting, than that is unacceptable and that's just more ammo for the left.jacksbuddy wrote:I saw this on the news, and I gotta say that something just does NOT sound right in this whole situation. Yes.. This is a bad deal.. I was just about to post an entry on my facebook page about this. As gun owners that carry, we should not let things get this out of control.. We should avoid these confrontations at all cost.. Even if it means we miss out on a movie..jacksbuddy wrote:I saw this on the news, and I gotta say that something just does NOT sound right in this whole situation. Re: Bad deal....
Bad deal for sure. But also lets remember media bias could be playing a huge role in this. The man who was shot is being made out to be a wonderful dad who just loved his daughter so much that he was texting the daycare about her. That may be the absolute truth, but it also may not be the whole truth. Remember, poor little Travon just wanted to go get a bag of skittles.

Yep, you may be right.. But the problem is that we gun owners have to fight the media biased too.. When it comes to media and politics, the truth is often not as important as the perception.. We are fighting a war on two fronts.. Those opposed to gun rights and those in the media who want to turn other against us..

Re: Bad deal....
Being reported the ex cop as had trouble with keeping his cool before. A lady has gone to police and said a couple months ago the same guy was upset about phone usage in theatre when she was there. A neighbor of cop has came forward and said he was out in his driveway working on his radio when cop came over saying turn it off, he is an ex cop.
Re: Bad deal....
The neighbor's punk kid was jamming out to some ghetto beats in his mom's camery sitting the driveway a week or so ago. I was about 2 seconds away of telling him to turn it down when he turned it off. Does this make me a ragging lunatic?free78 wrote:Being reported the ex cop as had trouble with keeping his cool before. I am just trying to say that the media can get a piece of info like this and twist it and the public is dumb enough to take it and run with it. Think back over the past few months, I am sure that you can think of something that you have done that the media would use against you if you were in a similar situation.
His guy maybe loony, but I am not going to convict and sentence him based off Fox news reports.

Wonder how it would have been portrayed if he'd dropped you with a double tap to the chest when you crossed the property line?kb7722 wrote:

Re: Bad deal....
That is true. However, since he is a former police officer, and whether you like it or not, he IS held to a higher standard.kb7722 wrote:I am just trying to say that the media can get a piece of info like this and twist it and the public is dumb enough to take it and run with it.
And I will go so far as to say that the higher standard he is held to is completely justified. He has been trained in not only HOW to use a firearm, but WHEN to use one and when NOT to use one as well. He has training and experience in problem and conflict resolution, and he knows the practical application of law.
In my ever so humble, albeit perfect opinion, this guy is screwed.
Nobody owes you anything.
Re: Bad deal....
I agree that whatever happened in the theater, this guy did not handle it correctly, and as a former law enforcement officer he should have known better. My comments were only directed towards the media digging for any little thing they can find. I don't think that you can judge a man b/c he said something to his neighbor about playing music too loud.

Re: Bad deal....
i wasn't implying you were in the wrong. Its easy to see that in the situation of the theatre, the cop was in the wrong. However, that doesn't do much for the other guy now. something to consider when I have trouble swallowing my pride.
Re: Bad deal....
If the thug on the corner of the Movie theater had shot the guy before he walked into the movie.....would it have made the news.?
Sound familiar?

Re: Bad deal....
a 71 year old man attacked or in fear of being attacked by a much younger, more fit, stronger person may be grounds for defending yourself? ,maybe maybe not... isn't florida a stand your ground state? does the man have to stand there after being covered in popcorn and wait for the guy to punch him? What if the guy punched him, he tumbles down the stairs and hits his head and dies? I am simply playing devils advocate... an old man with a gun will kill you if you mess with him because hes too old to fight..... lots more to this story I can assure you.
