College Baseball 2014
We are less than 40 days away from college baseball season. Does MSU have it in them to get back to Omaha??? Will the Rebels find some mojo to get past regional play??? No doubt LSU will again have some unknowns replace and become better than the ones who are gone. South Carolina, Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M....this league is unbelievable. What about Southern Miss??? Are they ready to step back on the national page in baseball??? Will Delta State continue to be the elite among the small schools??? Time is here to talk baseball once again. Cannot wait till the first afternoon I get to sit at Dudy Noble.
Are we gonna get wet?
Re: College Baseball 2014
LSU returns a few good players in Bregman, Nola, and Ibarra. But replacing Cotton as a closer and the bats of Rhymes and Katz will be tough.

I know state lost Renfroe and Frazier. Those are two big losses for the offense. Not sure who else they lost. I know they lost a couple of pitchers but by the end of the year I think it was more of the underclassmen stepping up for them.
Re: College Baseball 2014
DSU is returning, I think, 8 pitchers from last year. The big green machine continues its winning ways and Kinnison brings home #2 this year.

Re: College Baseball 2014
the rebs were lucky last year to even be in the mix for a regional, much less actually get out of the regional. at this point in time, i say there is no way this team makes it past a regional, If we manage to sneak in to one. we lost a lot last year, in quality leaders and starters; and to be quite frank, i honestly think our pitching is now a step back than where we were last year. jmo. it'll be intresting to see none the less...

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day

I think LSU is going to have a pretty tough road. They set a records for wins last year and then decided not to show up or adjust in Omaha. I think they are a regional team...if they get hot, maybe a super regional team. However, I don't see them making it to Omaha. To be honest, Omaha is just not the same anymore anyway with that new park.

Re: College Baseball 2014
You are right about the new park. Certain teams have an advantage playing there.

Omaha is now the home of small ball... Sad to see the days of gorilla ball gone.

Re: College Baseball 2014
If your team can bunt, your in business in Omaha. If you can't and the other team can, your screwed.

Gorilla ball was gone long before the new field in Omaha. Nothing wrong with small ball and nice to use kids using skills other than just cranking the ball out the park. Besides, not every kid can just walk up and hit a homerun.medic11 wrote:Omaha is now the home of small ball... Sad to see the days of gorilla ball gone.

The key to Omaha is bat discipline. UCLA threw BP fastballs chest high that teams couldn't lay off.....tried to jack them out and they became long fly balls......gotta lay off that stuff
Re: College Baseball 2014
LSU is fine and will be very good...Omaha bound
Tyler Moore will be biggest surprise. Connor Hale right behind him...left side of infield all conference. experience of Nola, Glenn, and McCune solid. Joe Broussard adequately replaces Cotton. Lot of athleticism in OF, enough to be as good as necessary to win big.

Meh, there were at least a dozen balls that would have been home runs at Rosenblat.

MSU should be near the top of the conference this season.
