Frozen Ramps

Postby Anatidae » Mon Jan 06, 2014 7:23 pm

You just have to wonder what goes through folks' minds when you see where somebody pulled his boat half-way up the ramp .......then pulled the drain plug in 13 degree weather.

I guess they weren't planning to hunt there the next day. :? GOOD!

"Me, me, me. There IS nobody else."

Iced-up ramps are a challenge but Thankfully not an obsatcle that can't be overcome. It's the inconsideration of others FOR others that is difficult to cope with, at times.

Y'all be careful out there and.........

Happy Hunting!

I've noticed that approximately 50% of the time, people just don't think things through.

From the very, very bottom of heart…SCREW that guy. Folks that are on a boat ramp more than 45 seconds in general, but especially that guy. Because trying to shoot a duck in the ice doesn't tear enough crap up...

Yeah, that's the guy that will want to launch but can't because of a frozen ramp........or thinks you have to use a 6-ton hydraulic jack to get his boat separated from the frozen bunks from the previous day.

Life is tough sometimes.....tougher if you're stupid.

13 deg. might be hard to pull plug. Frozen in place might be the case.

No kidding. I've had to use coffee to get my plug installed the last 2 hunts.

Dunno, sometimes I just feel stupid. Good thing is, she WILL stop when the wheels get to the water. Just got to hope you're still pointed the right way.
Think we shot two buffleheads that day. :?

I could write a book........

.......you have to admire the courteous jesture of a deer hunter boating to his hunting spot, that slows-down and waves as he passes on the outside of your decoys.........only to be totally unaware that steam rising off the water next to the shimmering 'black' is where water turns to ice.........and plows through the middle of the ice pack, slicing-off a big chunk just upwind of your spread....... 10 minutes before shooting time.

.......shining your spotlight directly at another boater can be misconstrued as a universal greeting among waterfowlers. It says, "Hi, fellas......we're duck hunters, too........good luck to you this morning." Obviously, the brighter the light and the longer they leave it on their subject - the more sincere the greeting.

.......it looks like a MGM theme park on foggy mornings when folks bring-out the 1 million CP spotlights in a dense fog.

.......using a 6-ton hydraulic jack to free the boat from frozen carpeted trailer bunks.

.......draining your boat on a public ramp when the high temps for the next 3 days are predicted to be below freezing.

.......wearing chest waders in a boat where all the land for miles from the landing is 'private' - and you're not a member.

.......blocking the ramp while 3 guys put the waders 'on'.

.......leaving your brights 'on' at the bottom of a 2-lane ramp.......while putting waders on.

.......taking-up both lanes of a 2-lane ramp.....leaving your brights on.......while putting waders on.

.......shining your headlight into someone's eyes while talking to them.

.......using a spotlight to navigate in a full moon.

.......saying 'here' to someone else's dog while they are obviously on 'heel'.
