Bald eagle near Carthage
Anyone seen one?? As I crossed he river before you get to Carthage on 25 there was a bald eagle sitting in a big cypress tree. I didn't Beleive what I saw so I turned around and as I stopped to take a pic it turned and flew away. Pic ain't the bet but shows the white head and lower tail etc. just caught me by surprise. I will try and get pic up when I get a chance.

There are two breeding pairs on Trace Lake near Tupelo. Whenever I fish there and round a point where an eagle is sitting waiting for an opportunity it scares the crap out of me. Just not expecting something that big to launch out of the tree that close to me. They really are pretty birds.
Read an article in the news where several have been found dead in Utah. The game and fish folks are trying to figure out what the problem is. They think it may be poison or more likely disease.

I sure hate seeing those things while duck hunting. They will mess up a duck hunt when they soar over. Ducks know.

Probably the same one I saw down the river towards 43 a couple of weeks ago. A buddy saw it a couple of days before I did. Guess it's gonna hang around for a while.

Had one fly over our spread today south of Crowder. Code name mallard-be-gone...
Re: Bald eagle near Carthage
they are definitely not duck magnets but they are cool. saw my first one ever fly over our spread around 43 earlier this year. i never realized how big they were. awesome to see, not awesome for the ducks.

I was hunting with the Wooly Swamp Boys several years ago and saw a hawk dive and hit a wounded gadwall. That was cool.

There is a pair we have been seeing near Schlater. Supposedly there was a juvenile one killed around there about a week ago and the feds are looking into it.
