Yes he is...because he wins either way. Of course, Saban is going to win either way too. However, Jimmy Sexton can walk into any restaurant in America and no one will know who he is...Saban cannot. Winner: Sexton.

Listened to Brad Edwards (BCS ESPN Guru) a second ago on local sports talk...he is a Bama grad and likely has pretty good connections. He said he knew Brown was out last week. When asked about Saban to Texas, he gave a round-about answer but concluded that he would be surprised if he took the gig.

I think he is probably right...

As stated before, I think Saban has interest in the Texas job, but they are going to really have to make it worth his time and energy. In the end, he uses Texas as leverage to get a nice raise from Bama and then retires within 3 years.

Nothing about this situation would surprise me. I could easily make an argument one way or the other. That being said, Saban stays. Not that I know the man, but I find it hard to believe he leaves on a loss to Auburn. He doesn't need money. He has more than he and his kids can spend. The one thing that he dislikes about Alabama is the lack of personal space. I'm not sure he was expecting the level of intrusiveness that he is experiencing.

In the end he leverages the talk of a new job to try and gain some personal space and more money (you can always use more). He uses the lose to Auburn to fuel his competitive fire.

That being said, he could easily be gone tomorrow and simply his life considerably. Either way it a fun soap opera to keep up with.

He does need the money (of course it could be generated from either place). Apparently, it is public record that Saban entered into a bad real estate deal with a crook from Baton Rouge (I know of the guy personally - friend of friend). They developed a large multi-use deal called Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge that exists but is financially way upside down and did the same with a large apartment deal in Houston that is way upside down. Spinosa filed bankruptcy and left Nick holding the bag. He is apparently in debt in the tens of millions of dollars on these two deals.

Have y'all seen where some pulled a prank and was paging saban over the intercom at the Austin airport?

If he does in fact leave, I wonder if his statue at bama will come down.

I still say its a win for Bama either way.....what? Yep, its been many years when a college football team has had such a run as the Tide has had under Saban's direction. 3 BCS championships in 4 years and a W-L record as he has......even if he leaves tomorrow, it will be talked about for a long time. I also think they will get their pick for the next coach as well.

If he wants to leave, let him and smile while he does. The $ brought into the athletics program in his tenure will benefit the university for years to come.

I don't see many Bama fans agreeing with me on this.

About the statue.....if he stays and retires in 3-5 years or longer it stays, but if he leaves to UT.....I do think some redneck will eventually deface it or even tear it down.....

If he leaves, I bet they will have to have guards around that statue for the next month or two in order to prevent defacing. The Updyke faction of the fan base will be none-to-pleased if he leaves them for anything other than retirement.

That saying, I think he stays.

I agree. In the long run (and short term) he's Been good for whoever he's coached for (college). I'm an lsu fan and I still don't understand other lsu fans obsession with him. He was good for the school and lsu wouldn't be what they are today without his tenure, same as bama.
As far as the statue is concerned, I was meaning if he skipped town to head west, not so much retire.

So IF Saban does not go to UT and Brown steps down, who do they go after?

Malzahn? Strong? NFL coach or Asst?

According to Team Speed Kills' very good sources at Texas, Nick Saban will soon become the head coach of the Longhorns

AUSTIN (TSK) -- Alabama head coach Nick Saban has signed a contract with Texas valued at $11 bazillion annually, according to a source close to the program.

"It's going to be a challenge for the boosters," the source told TSK. "For one thing, we have to figure out exactly what a bazillion is."

According to TSK's source, the contract Saban signed also has several fringe benefits. For example, boosters have agreed to purchase a small African nation for Saban upon his retirement. Saban would be able to choose between Eritrea and Kenya. If the coach were to win a national championship, the state of Texas would change its name to Nicksabania.

The university has also figured out how to handle the delicate issue of Saban's responsibilities for the Longhorn Network, which some saw as an obstacle to the media-averse coach taking over at Texas. According to the source, the network will replace most of Brown's shows with reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger." Saban will do one program each week in which he yells at Texas beat reporters for 30 minutes.

It is not yet known when Saban might be introduced as the coach of the Longhorns. One complication, Texas officials said, was that current Texas coach Mack Brown has locked himself in the office with Bevo and a loaded BB gun, loudly playing Michael Bolton songs to drown out repeat requests that he come out.

But the developments could help explain a tweet early Wednesday from Bobby Petrino, which read simply: "#RTR."

I think Jimbo, Dabo or Kirby...in no particular order. I think Franklin or Shaw would be a great hire, but don't see Bama hiring a fella with a tan.

If Saban were to leave I think it may be hard for Bama to find a replacement. Who really wants to be the guy replacing him after the he has been on? Those are some huge shoes to fill at what is already probably the highest stress level job in college football.
