Anyone use Allstate? I am thinking of changing my insurance companies and have been getting a lot of mail from Allstate, but I am open to all, looking to cover 2 autos, boat, home, etc.....Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated...

Give Shelter a shot. Really good rates with Multi policy discounts that you would qualify for.

Give Jim Word (jelly) a call.
601-924-3397 he's a great guy and great agent.

shop them all, just remember your insurance company is only as good as the AGENT THAT YOU CHOOSE.

i work for a big one as do several folks on her, and there are even a few really good independent agents on here as well.

if they don't take time to explain in detail how your policies and coverages work, and what is expected and what isn't expected come claim time; then they don't deserve your premiums and the commission.

thats my 2 cents..

I use Allstate and have been very pleased with them. In the 6 years we have used them, they have paid out more on me than I've paid in to them. A tree fell on my house right after I moved in and the hail storm this past spring created a claim. I like how they have handled both events. I hope they don't drop me or increase my rates through the roof!

A funny story....an Allstate rep has called me twice (different rep each time), both times 1 year apart, and have tried to get me to move my wife's and my vehicle to Allstate to get a better price all the away around for automotive and home insurance. When I tell them my wife and I dob't own a vehicle, they are like What......? They then want to know how that is possible for someone in MS that owns a home but doesn't own a vehicle. They are then like "Dang, I haven't heard or experienced a reply like that before". My wife and I are in unique positions with company owned vehicles, even my 21 year old daily driver Toyota is a company owned vehicle.

I'm looking forward to the third time they call. It is fun hearing their reaction :D

I have Allstate, but my agent isn't in Clinton. Whenever I have had to file a claim, he told me to use the 800 number. Yes, they've paid out more than I've paid in, but the customer service has included a few more jumping hoops than I have liked. I cannot help but think that a good agent would have prevented that. Good luck.

I shopped a ton of companies and by far Geico was the least expensive. Not by a little either.

Second the post about your insurance is only as good as your agent. Not sure what Allstate is up to these days, but the mail you are receiving is part of their marketing. More than likely you fit their "top tier" pricing as a model customer. They have all kinds of data they use to determine that. If you fit theirs, you'll likely fit many others. But here recently, we(our agency) has been writing a ton of Allstate business as they have had some major rate increases in this area. That is how they get their losses under control. Just something I've noticed here recently around the Jackson Metro Area.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I really appreciate that..

Be leary of a "quote" from Allstate. I had an agent friend that finally left them because they had two systems, one to quote and one to acutally write the policy. The quote was always much lower than the actual price. Never really understood that..

I'm sure all in all they are a good company..
