water levels for Yazoo, Sunflower, Steele Bayou, etc.?

Thanks very much. Is there any correlation between the Big Sunflower levels as posted by NOAA and the Little Sunflower levels? WHat about the Big Sunflower, doesn't it go into Steele? Does the Yazoo also?

Can anyone help. I once had it explained to me perfectly, but now I can't recall it.

Yes Meeka both steele bayou and the yazoo rivers are controlled by the steele bayou locks just off eagle lake road. They aren't open yet because of the miss river being so high!

The Little Sunflower, Big Sunflower, Steele Bayou, etc. are all part of the Yazoo river backwater. They are separated from teh Yazoo (and thus the MS River) by levees and flood gates. They flow into the Yazoo at two flood gates (Little Sunflower and Steele Bayou). The river levels at these structures is posted on the corps VB district web site (posted previously - http://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/offices/ed/edh/yazoobw.htm). Hope this helps explain the correlation. BTW, I hunted the flooded timber off little sunflower all last week. Some days would see a few ducks and other days, nothing. I was terribly dissapointed.

Can anyone tell me if there is a published forecast for Steele Bayou or the Little Sunflower? I know where to go to get the Yazoo, Big Sunflower and Miss river levels. Is there a direct correlation between any of them? Where do each of them connect? I will appreciate your help.

The Little Sunflower runs into the Big Sunflower in Delta National right where the South Greentree is...actually, they are joined by Six Mile Cutoff there. They were out of their banks and into the woods there as of last Friday PM. I sat on Six Mile Cutoff bridge late Friday and watched a bunch of ducks (way more than two days before that)leave those woods and head to Panther Swamp Sanctuary. With a lot of work, a man could put a boat in at that bridge, or on the Dummy line bridge and find some ducks. It would take some effort, but...
