Duck ID question
Re: Duck ID question
Hen goldeneye.
Nice kill! I've seen one hen killed in my area. No drakes.

Re: Duck ID question
The one and only goldeneye I killed, came off one of your ponds west of Catfish road, several years ago, loved hunting that shallow pond!
Re: Duck ID question
I remember that. Was it a drake?

Re: Duck ID question
We had a drake buzz the spread two yrs ago while we picked up the decoys after a catfish pond hunt. Lucky for him we had already limited out!! Also, about 15 yrs ago we shot a hen while diver hunting down here on the Coast.

Shot a goldeneye last year in a rice field in Belzoni. It was a hen also, flying solo.

So much for voluntary restraint with this bunch.

for exmaple you could kill a 4 greenheads (two banded), a mallard/black cross, and a mallard/gaddy cross and smash a hot blonde on the way back to the ramp and call it a hell of a day
Re: Duck ID question
Hen Goldeneye as mentioned. Somewhat unique for these parts. My dad is up in Alberta now with work, and 2 Sunday's ago, he was covered up in Goldeneyes. They are much more common in the western flyways.
Re: Duck ID question
We see a few of them down here. Not many.
So many ducks, so little time....
