Flew and found the ducks all in the fields today at noon. Where the ducks were, there were thousands of them...where they weren't, there were none. Some fields still frozen, wind blowing pretty hard, but didn't see many birds in the timber. Anybody favor a motion to hunt cormorants this year?

I am ashamed to say that I drew a bead on some more than once last week, but so far I have not pulled the trigger. The stress is building however!

As many as I have seen in your neck of the wooods, I would think that the action would be fast. Who makes your cormorant decoys? Are there robo cormorants? If you soak those cormorant fillets in milk then role them in some corn meal and throw'em in dat hot grease, they taste kinda like a catfish.

Comorant recipe:
1. Breast out the bird.
2. Soak breast overnite at room temp in favorite marinade. (usually diesel or kerosene)
3. Next morning cut a 1 foot by 1 foot piece of one quarter inch plywood.
4. Lay marinated breast out on wood and sprinkle on favorite dry seasoning.
5. Start fire on grill and burn down to white embers and lay wood with breast on grill.
6. When meat turns golden brown remove wood and meat from grill.
7. Finally, throw meat to dog and eat the plywood.
Also works for coots and other assorted trash birds.

Man, with all of those worms in the cormorant digestive system, who can turn down that protein-rich source? We actually have permits to shoot them on the fish ponds. I almost put one in the right seat of the Cessna today; if it weren't for his power dive-emergency maneuver, I might have had a feathered passenger.

Down here the oh-so-popular-federally-protected cormorants are called "water turkeys" or a "N" goose. And a lot of 'em have been the main course at dinner during lean times. Personally, I would rather gargle coot spit, but to each his own.
