Cutcliffe

Postby mshunter77 » Mon Nov 18, 2013 10:51 pm

So I always thought it was a bad move when Ole Miss fired him. Now you look at what he has done at Duke, took them from being a joke to a competitive team and now actually a pretty solid team. What could he have done with Ole Miss long term?

coaching was never a problem at ole miss. lack of recruiting was the problem.

then he was out of football for a bit becuase of heart problems. after his heart issues where resolved he then went and played offensive coordinator for a bit before he went to coaching fulltime.

my point is there was a few off the field issues going on with him at the time he and ole miss broke it off, and with medical issues is part of the reason the offseason started.

not making excuses for the man's failure after ELI left, but when DC was at ole miss those few years he was part of having ole miss at the penicle of the best times in oxford football wise in 50 years. and yet he had zero talent on his squad when eli left.

vast consensus is all rebels really liked DC and are happy for him. Duke and DC are a perfect fit. i hope he wins out.

Ole Miss brought in Cutcliffe to solidify Eli signing. Once Eli left, Cut was no longer needed.

Cutcliffe was fired after Boone asked him to make some changes in his staff / assistant coaches and provide a detailed plan for improving the program, specifically the defense and recruiting. Cutcliffe refused to fire any staff members, and was subsequently fired along with his assistants. As Scotty said his health was a major issue also.

Not a jab at Ole Miss, I thought it was a valid topic to bring up. Guess it is OK to talk about Coah O but not Cut. Man your panties must really be in a wad to get that upset over something this simple. Yeah he has had losing seasons but he has been getting them better every year and has done things there that only the OL Ball Coach has been able to do. Anyway for those that had real comments to make about the situation I appreciate the info.

No problem MShunter...i was just !@#$% with you. You have a history on here of always jabbing at Ole Miss from accusing Archie of having an illegitimate son to now the ole dead horse of firing Cut. I thought your post about "what if Cutt?" was your routine polite jab at the Rebels and such an unintelligent one at that if you would have checked his record at Duke and the real reasons he was fired at Ole Miss. Furthermore i am not sure what your "turn a program around" barometer is but I'll take that bible thumping high school girls' basketball coach record the last 2 years as a definite Turnaround that rivals St. Nick first 2 years at Bama.

Point is Duke is a much harder job than Ole Miss as far as creating a winning football team there. Spurrier has the been the only one to do it in the past. Cutcliffe has done a good job there. There is now way he could turn them around over night and any person that covers football will say that he has been getting Duke better and better each year. I thought about this because of the thread about Orgeron another fired Ole Miss coach that is having success right now. Also when did I accuse Archie of having an illegitimate son. I simply said I had heard it and was asking if anyone else had ever heard that, which obviously it was a runmour with legs because the Ole Miss faithful came up with a name and pic of the guy. So keep up with your witch hunt, I guess if you can't beat Bama on the field try to beat up their fans on the Internet.

here's how it works Mshunter......this is a public forum.....You throw your opinion out here based on the disguise of "you heard" and blah blah " rumors " about a family that you don't know or have one clue about, then expect friends of this family to call you out on the carpet for your slanderous and reckless posting. this is not Bama or Bear thing. I hope we are clear on this
