A rant for this Friday morning

I know we are not suppose to talk about public land. I will not mention any names, so hopefully this will not get me into any trouble. Let me know if this is not proper and I will delete it.

I got an email saying that I wasn't drawn this year at a un-named location. I have been hunting this place for over 20 years. Since they started the draw process, I have yet to be drawn. It just chaps my butt that people that don't know jack about hunting, get drawn year after year. They go and sky-bust, set-up on people, leave trash everywhere and cause a big hassle for everyone that enjoys this great sport. I know that all people have to learn to hunt, but to see the same people year after year, doing the same thing over and over, is just messing things up for all of us that care. It's just mostly kids that weren't taught any respect for the sport or other people.

So if any of you were drawn, please be respectful of the sport, land and people.

Sorry for the rant.

While I understand your angst...I support the draw. Be more selective on your dates chosen. Spots fill up fast on opening day and weekends. Everybody on here says they would never set up too close to another hunter, but, happens to me every year, and, I haul out more trash than I take in on every trip...hope you have better luck

My dad and I have been hunting unnamed location for 30 years and got drawn for every weekend we put in for the first year of the draw. Have not been drawn since until this year. Between me, my dad, his 2 buddies, and my 2 cousins, we had every weekend covered, some twice, 12 opportunities. My dad got drawn for the last weekend that's it. Glad I have plenty of vacation time and a flexible schedule so I can hunt during the week.

What really is aggravating is that 3 guys in my office, none of which had ever hunted unnamed location, put in last year. 2 guys got 1 weekend each, the other guy got both weekends, I got bupkis. So the 3 that had neither boats or any knowledge of the place got drawn. Of course I thought, good for me because I have both equipment and knowledge. Well, when it came time for those guy's weekends, they had kid's soccer games, or parties, or whatever. Only went one Saturday, and it must have rained 6" that morning, didn't fire a shot.

Used to like the challenge of finessing the local ducks and dodging the crowds. Haven't been there in 2 yrs. That's was their goal; and they got it. There's an email on here from dwfp somewhere explicitly stating they were trying to oust the locals/frequenters. The road block rumor got their attention but that was 3yrs too late for the needed GW presence. Go to Ark/La they don't got draws.

We've talked about this plenty on this board, AND SOMEONE CAME UP WITH A VERY GOOD SOLUTION TO THIS DRAW NONSENSE. Simply put, the suggestion was don't allow 4 wheelers and such to be driven throughout the WMA, period. That will eliminate all of those who can't hunt without every brand new contraption designed to hunt ducks. It will also eliminate all of those who just want to ride around and screw up everybody else's hunt. And finally, it will very quickly make certain that those of us who are going to hunt are physically capable of actually hunting ducks.

Has anyone ever even mentioned this to the MDWFP? If not, who do we have to blame for that?
