Chiropractor question?
Anyone ever go? Is it a one time thing or do you need to go regular after the first time? DID IT HELP? Thanks in advance!

I went to tullos and I can honestly say that I think it helped me.... However, They did not do anything that really began helping until about 3-4 visits into process. They either can not or will not prescribe any pain or muscle relaxing drugs. If you need immediate relief you may consider a regular doctor.
I think I was pretty much cured by the time my annual insurance allowable doctor visits ran out.

Chiropractors are snake oil...it's a massage that will temporarily help but not fix anything. Go to a PT instead. A physical therapist can teach you the correct exercises to strengthen and improve what your issue is.
Re: Chiropractor question?
From another perspective... Do you know what's wrong with your back? I thought I had slipped a disc and went to the chior several times. He even took X-rays. Come to find out my cancer had come back and it was in several places in my spine, among others, I had a tumor pushing on the spinal cord and the vertebrae was basically all tumor. I was lucky he didn't paralyze me during manipulation. Go to a medical professional, get an MRI find out what's wrong then get appropriate treatment.

If you like how you feel after having your back or neck popped you will like the chiropractor. If you don't notice any difference then you will
find it a waste of money. They will want you to come back multiple times because they are like a dentist and schedule you even when it's not
needed so they can get more money.
Like someone mentioned, if you think you may have something serious, you may want to go see a real
doctor and get a refferal to a neurosurgeon (sp?). They will get MRI's and tell you if you have any major issues.
If you think you pulled a muscle, just see your family doctor for muscle relaxers and get a massage and move on.
I like the chiropractor because that is the only way I can get my lower back adjusted (popped). But I can't afford $50 a visit every day for a week
that they always want to schedule me, so I don't go anymore.

As far as back pain goes I'm not real sure my back never really bothered me to much even though I'm on my feet all day but I do have problems with one of my shoulders when I go to the chiro my shoulder gets better to where I can actually lift my arm above my head which I know I need surgery to fix it but really not ready to have anyone cutting on me yet for my situation it does help though I don't think it's for everyone like said before it does get costly.

Re: Chiropractor question?
A GOOD chiropractor is worth the visit, if it is something they can fix and surgery is not needed. All you guys talking about how they are snake oil have obviously been to bad ones. I have had 3 different ones (from moving out of state, not because I didn't like one) and they have all showed me exercises to strengthen muscles that will help stabilize the joints and bones that they adjust. They have also always asked ME if and when I wanted to schedule the next visit. The only time one told me to schedule the next appt was when my siatic nerve was inflammed and I could barely walk. Not all require x-rays on the first visit either. Some only do if they think there is a bigger problem that an adjustment won't fix.
I now go once a month for regular "maintenance" on my own free will because it helps my back from hurting and giving me problems. A guy told me one time that people don't get addicted to chiropractors, they get addicted to feeling good and that's why they go back. Take that for what it is to you but I kinda agree because I fall into that category. Regular upkeep is worth it to me instead of not being able to walk for a month and icing my back every 2 hours.

its made a huge difference with me. bad posture sitting at my office desk has "@#$%#" my lower back and hips up. he puts it back in line and i'm good to go for a while. then it'll start hurting again way on down the road, 25 bucks and i'm on my way

Re: Chiropractor question?
I just got home from a Chiropractor visit. I had/have a suddenly pinched sciatic nerve which has happened before. He get's me better immediately and "fixed" in 3-5 visits.
If it hurts bad enough you'll give it a try. I was very leery, but I have had excellent results.

Re: Chiropractor question?
I have only been to one. I had a crick in my neck so bad it wasnt safe for me to drive cause I could not turn my head enough to check my side mirrors while facin straight. He got my insurance info and figured out how much they would pay and set me up for that amount of visits. Strange how I was cured about the time the money ran out. However, a guy I go to church with told a story recently about him walking in to our local chiro one day reluctantly. They popped him and then pushed him back to his car in a wheel chair. It was a true story.
Now, when I get back stiffness, I lay on my stomach and have my 120 pound wife walk up and down my back till it pops a few times and I am good.

How does a dentist schedule you when it's not needed? What do they actually do if you don't need anything?fireplug wrote:If you like how you feel after having your back or neck popped you will like the chiropractor. If you don't notice any difference then you will

I go 3x a week right now. It has made a considerable difference in me, especially my sleep habits
