The shaving cream, gel, are soap serves two functions. The 1st is to soften the hair while the second is to reduce friction between the razor and your face. That friction is what causes many razor burns. There' a number of other things you can do like wash with a preshave wash, use a preshave oil or cream, then use shaving cream or Shaving soap. Each serves the purpose of reducing friction and helping the blade glide over the skin.

I don't want anything with a blade that sharp around my balls.

Someone just walked into my office to check on me... They thought I might be dying I was laughing so hard! I'm thinking bald eagle would be just a little danger close for big Jim and the twins...

Gee, thanks a lot fellas. Since this thread has taken off, there aren't any blades for sale around here anymore. I went to Wally World for some, and they've quit selling them now. (Which stinks, because they sold the brand I liked.) And when I went to a beauty supply store during lunch, some yahoo had just come in and bought their last two packages of Personas. Dag nabbit!

There are several of the Sally's around town. Feathers = sharp blades, not meant for use on your junk.

Joined the ranks of the DE Shavers yesterday. Gonna have to find an old timer to give me a lesson. Cut my finger putting a blade in. Neck feels like I shaved with the weed-eater.
