to whom it may concern,
we have been hunting these ducks and trying to spread them out but they are not going to the fields ,but they are staying very deep water on crp flooded land. we hunt them for two days and then have to search for them for two. we do have alot of ducks concentrated in remote places and don't have a duck in our fields. i could care if you believe it or not! i know what i have seen and how many places i travel in a day. i ride 30- 40 miles everyday to see if they have moved or if they are feeding. there are two federal refuges that are slap full but we obviously can't hunt there but have land agoining them but the ducks are not going in there to feed. i haven't ever seen many ducks in tunica anyway. we always have ducks and we know what the ducks here are doing. sounds like some of ya'll need to ride more abd find the birds instead of sitting in your pit playing cards and sipping on cheap scotch!!!!!

Dog -- The ducks I witnessed first hand were on private property. I do not know the owner & certainly do not have permission to hunt the field. The ducks on pubic land are outside of my safe reach because of the small size of my boat. Hope this helps explain the situation.

I believe you no angel. I seed it wit my own two eyes. They wont scatter because you cannot run them out. they just keep swimming deeper in the timber. Ran into a big gathering one eve that never left and were still in there the next morn. when you get close to them they jump like quail and go back down 100 yds or so from whwere they jump.
found them!!!!!!
For the record: I do enjoy cheap scotch from time to time, but I gotta be some kind of desperate to field hunt ducks. I'm a timber ducker. Another thing, I've been getting mallards fairly consistently in my timber hole, so I've got no real complaint here. I just like stirring the pot a little in my boredom.
Scatter 'em when you can.

Dutch Dog-
Just because there not on the cutoff does not mean there not on the big river. I've killed limits the last 2 mornings with relatively no problem.

I'll get in on this one also. We have killed a good many big ducks this year. The problem is you have to keep moving. With the water we have the ducks are not going to take any pressure. We've been skunked 1 day this season because we hunted the same hole 2 days in a row. As long as we rotated and let our holes "rest" we have had sucess. I will note we are letting the fast flyers (except teal) and fish eaters pass and IMO the bulk of the ducks havent gotten here yet.

found them!!!!!!
I have been away from the -puter for almost a week. As of Monday morning, I thought all the ducks I had been seeing, but not able to hunt, had vanished. . . . WRONG!!!!
In a dif. part of the state, I think ( are yall talking about Northwest and North East Miss.?), those familiar with me know where, on public land in the GREEN TIMBER.
You can't run them out! I had only thought about scouting this spot, when my cousins stopped by and had a different piece of equipment than what I had available, which was a trolling moter and jon boat and a larger aluminum boat with an outboard and TM. That stuff gets real frustrating in flooded timber cause of the floating logs.
Of course I can't give exact numbers, but there were more than plenty. They were so thick they even were confident. I just hope the water stays up.
We found them Monday afternoon. I only got one, but it was a very good hunt in my book. Shallow Green Timber is the best hunt. On 1/1, we got a three man limit of mallards on a hunt much less strenuous than I am accustomed. If the water stays up . . .
Moral of the story, don't give up. I had and was planning on going home after a very good, but marginally productive, Saturday morning hunt about a mile from this spot, followed by Sunday and Monday hunts where I Did Not Fire.
Munro and Lerch, all I can say is I hope that stuff was good! As usual, the old hunter prevails in the end.
