He is a media made player. People say omg he had so many yards last year and tds ect. Well to me that's like saying you bench press 2,000 on the moon. When it comes time to do it with some gravity that $#!+ just absolutely crushes him. Too many state fans pretend he is playing on the moon.

If you look at who we have on the field now and who we had in the croom era it is night and day difference. There was a guy trying to do just what you are talking about. The wr we had then were the Will Prossors and Omar Conners. I think Dan has been able to beef up the talent at wr. I am not saying that they are in the top of the sec, but they can play ball. I happen to be a guy who likes Tyler and what he can do with the ball. He needs time and someone calling plays that has a sense of direction with it. It is not the offensive scheme that bothers me just the play calling. It's like close your eyes and point to a play in the book. We shall see but I think we are ok on that side of the ball to me. D is what worries me.
I agree with you there, I agree Dan has brought in better WR talent across the roster than we have had in years past. On the other hand, that is only one position on the field, and that position requires a lot out of everyone else.....a good QB, an OL that can pass block for the required amount of time, a coach who knows how to teach kids to run routes, an OC who calls plays that sets everything up......and a good D who can back you up when you go 3 and out in 1:30 burned off the clock. You cannot just recruit good WRs and good RBs. MSU has always had above average RBs IMO.

Other conferences across the nation want to know why the SEC is so dominant, why does the SEC continue to win more than their fair share of games vs non-SEC schools. That question just does not come down to better talent and better facilities. Where is the best SEC talent??? It is on the defensive side of the ball (and maybe OL). Take Oklahoma State as an example. I would say that most of their best football players are on offense. Touted 4 star or 5 star talent all up and down the offensive roster. Pac 10, Big 12, ACC, etc, etc all have continued to recruit high ranking high school players for more explosive offenses. One common thing among the SEC schools who have won or been in contention at end of season is that they all played great defense. The have unbelievable talent at the DB position. They have LBs that move like DBs and tackle like DEs. They have DEs that gain the edge and play like LBs. It is the defense that seperates the big boys. Defensive lines and linebackers that control the running game, talented defensive backs that can handle some one on one, pressure put on opposing QBs, etc, etc. Chris Relf was more successful as a QB when he had White and Wright as LBs on defense.....because he was not expected to do near as much with those guys playing the type of defense MSU played in those two guys senior season. Is Dan recruiting that type of talent all up and down the roster??? I agree he has recruited very well at the WR postion and other skill spots.....but is he doing it on the most important side of the ball as far as the SEC is concerned???

with talent being give or take across the rosters...I believe Mike Gundy is a better coach than Dan Mullen and that will make a difference.

I do hope that we go out there and to try and ground & pound the ball. OSU DC admits that it will be a challenge for his front 7 to match up with the OL that MSU brings on the field. He says Big 12 teams are now pass first oriented teams and recruiting shows they have built defenses to stop the pass first. My fear is Mullen will go out there with Russel and plan to "act" just like a Big 12 team and throw it around. Hopefully we will hand the ball to Perkins and our other talented RBs a lot during this game.

I'm hoping we see a lot of 230lb. Dak Prescott doing some Chris Relf-ish plays.

No reason to have that big and athletic of a kid only come in for 5-7 plays a game.

On a lighter note, one of the bands did play the theme from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Got that going for us so...
