Re: Syria???
Food For Thought:
(1) The Rebels that we will be "defending" have still not been ruled out as the individuals responsible for the gas;
(2) It is irrefutable that those same rebels have Al Qaeda as a component of their group, and perhaps even, as their leadership;
(3) Syria has a large military (450K men, 1000+ tanks, multiple warships, multiple missile systems);
(4) If the US is successful in using kinetic action (missiles and bombs) to ouster the current government, the rebels will quite naturally fill the vacuum and take control;
(5) In so doing, the US, led by President Obama, will have literally given Al Qaeda their own military, complete with missile, arms, ships and tanks...something they have never had before.
After pondering those realities, please tell me that it is a good idea for Obama to by-pass Congress (again) and conduct an act of war.
Federalist Paper 69 clearly states that the President conducts war only after congressional authorization.
Bush received two congressional authorizations to enter Iraq (and it was still a giant mistake).
So far, Obama has already instituted military action in Yemen, Pakistan, Libya and Egypt without congressional approval of any form.
Another food for thought, the British Prime Minister has reconvened their parliament to take a vote as to whether the British should partake in military action against Syria (that is not required in their law, but is in ours). Obama is not calling on congress to authorize action...instead he has given the decision to potentially start a war in which Russia and China could be involved, as well as Iran and Israel...TO HIMSELF ALONE. Think about that for a minute or two.

Don't forget we armed and trained the Afghanis during their war with the USSR in the 1980's. Look where that got us.In so doing, the US, led by President Obama, will have literally given Al Qaeda their own military, complete with missile, arms, ships and tanks...something they have never had before.

Re: Syria???
If Russia and China ever had a good opportunity to take over domination of the world, this "Leader" we have would be their best shot. I'm not
confident in our millitary leadership at this point either because he put them in the positions they are in. Going to get scary if Russia throws in
with Syria and Iran. I sure hope the Isralies have the balls to drop the bomb cause this fool doesn't.

Re: Syria???
There have been reports he has systematically run off a lot of the military brass that had thoughts contrary to his own (McChrystal and Patreaus the most notable). That said, so does every president. To become a general, admiral, etc., means you are good at politics to one degree or another.
What is troubling about Obama having 5 years to put in place those that will not defy him is that an instance like this could realistically start WW3 and there is no one to tell him no, this is a bad idea.
Now, that is all speculation on my part based on some things I have heard from people somewhat in the know, but scary nonetheless.

Re: Syria???
If we could just drop bombs and leave well I'd be all for it. But no, we will drop bombs then spend the next 10 years there helping "rebuild" the country and winning "hearts and minds" all the while our troops will spend years away from their families and alot of lives will be lost over nothing. After spending 3 of the last 6 years in Iraq or Afghanistan my vote is to mind our own damn business for once.

Re: Syria???
All this because Obama tried to talk tough last August when he threw out the "red-line" comment-----he's been looking like the "BEARDED CLAM" that he is the past few months while Syria was going deeper and deeper into the crapper----now this "illegitimate child" is trying to save face by acting tough all of a sudden -
from the http://thehill.com/blogs/defcon-hill/po ... s-in-syria
Other targets include key command and control stations, Syrian military airbases and several "conventional military targets," a U.S. defense official told the newspaper on Tuesday.
If successful, the U.S. strikes could cripple the Syrian military's ability to carry out attacks on rebel forces and bring the regime to its knees.
So I guess the plan is to weaken Assad's army to the point that the rebels would be able to take over-----but who the hell are the rebels? It seems the rebels have killed off the original rebels and are now more Al Queda led - and the White House had this to say about the chemical weapons:
Military planners at the Pentagon and White House are avoiding specifically targeting suspected caches of chemical weapons stockpiles, fearing that strikes would release the deadly contents of those stockpiles into nearby towns and villages.
So Assad is weakened enough so the rebels can then take over - there's a real chance the rebels are as bad or worse than Assad and then they would have control of all the chemical weapons Obama is going to leave for the winner - sounds great - all because Obama tried to play tough guy a year ago and now he's turning this into a political move and it will be a disaster----he is a complete $#!+.

Re: Syria???
kinda what i meant....syria is a forgone conclusion. we've - and by "we" i mean the morons in congress and the white house - have "decided" who's to blame though, as deltamud77 stated - we don't know who's to blame but we know who we're going to blame. the UN, God bless their terrorist supporting, limp-dicked, American hating azzes even went so far as to state "we're not interested in WHO did this, only that they did do it."Double R 2 wrote:gator wrote:two words.....

That's exactly the perfect event to ensure an executive order making Obama a 3rd-term POTUS.
who the f_ck makes decisions of such a costly fashion based off such ignorance? answer - we do.....cause, that assshat is going to be proclaimed "king" before this is all said and done.
as a country we've been in all-out war for a DECADE, the longest in our history...everyone - troops, families, bystanders - we're all tired of this chit.......pull our boys and girls home, turn the key and push the button...............turn that pisshole into the largest, smoothest, most crystalline piece of glass in the universe, then call up russia, china, north korea, mexico, venezuala (sp?) and giggle as we say - TRY US.
shoot an email to every other country that hates our azzes and hasn't stood with us - but a few steps behind so they could bury the knife easier - and warn them that accidents happen all the time.........sure would hate for a 50 ton warhead to end up in some walmart in paris.
personally, i want our guys and girls home.........i want every UN "ambassador" put on their asses and given 48 hours to vacate these here premises.....i want guns, missiles, subs, nukes, and any other damned thing we got pointed due south and straight up mexico's booty with a big, "stay calm and die on" sign at the gate................i want term limits on these old f_cks wasting my time and money in washington and this damn state, i want nothing more from this goddamned gov't than a modicum of infrastructure and protection and like i tell my boss ALL THE DAMNED TIME - i just want to do my job and be left alone, so dammit, leave me the hell alone...i want this big azzed $#!+ of a gov't to leave me the hell alone....................................and lastly and most importantly, by God, i want my country back.

I wasted the better part of my 20's fighting 2 wars in 2 countries where no one gave a damn about democracy or any other idea we were forcing upon them. Alot of great young men and women either lost their lives or the life they use to know, and what the hell do they have to show for it ?
