I respectfully disagree. This is more akin to hearing through facebook that so and so may be beating his wife over in Alabama. One, you don't know if it is true at all. Two, it may actually be the other way around. Three, there are other entities closer to the alleged beating that should step up and handle it as it is more their business than yours.Wingman wrote:Too me, this is kinda like watching a man beat a woman in the Walmart parking lot. I choose to look at it like this...You see a man beating a woman in Walmart parking lot, you know you should go over and help, but at that moment you notice someone breaking into your truck thats parked all the way across the parking lot (and by the way your family was waiting in the truck). Which one do you take care of first?Deltamud77 wrote:I respectfully disagree. This is more akin to hearing through facebook that so and so may be beating his wife over in Alabama. Okay I may be a redneck, but my take on it is this,
the woman (the innocent) should pull a gun out of her purse and blast that joker right in the skull, People have to take care of THEMSELVES, that's how our country got is Freedom to start with. we have to put our foot down and say enough is enough. my Prayers are for the innocent over in Syria

Great topic... Do any of yall watch the Newsroom on HBO. It has a liberal slant but it does show how everyone even FOX puts there spin on what the viewers think is the truth.
Have we won a war since Veitnam? No! And we won't because of the technology of media and communication. To win a war people have to DIE, CIVILIANS HAVE TO DIE and FEAR/RESPECT HAS TO BE BURNED INTO THEIR MINDS. Not saying all this is right or politically correct. General Paton quotes "No ignorant dumb "illegitimate child" ever won a war by dieing for their country, they won it BY MAKING THE OTHER IGNORANT DUMB "illegitimate child" DIE FOR THEIR COUNTRY!" You cant go in there blow up some building kill the ring leader and a few of his buddys, declair victory and then come in and rebuild. Thats what modern society believes. You have to wipe the slate clean and make them start over. This is true with any victory, if it wasnt your football team's score would carry over to the next game and the state champ would be the one with the highest average.
Should we be the worlds protectors? Hard to say but when did we draw the line with Hilter, Bin Laden, Sadam Husain and Castro? There is not right or wrong answer. If we nip it in the bud (which we cant due to above stated) then we are bullys looking for a fight. If we wait until they infringe on then our citizens, even the hippies will cry where was our Gov? Why did we wait this long? Unfortunatly we live in a world where it has to hit the fan before we can do anything.
I think we need to make a good example out of someone. Wipe them off the map and then claim in US property. Live life with the who's next theory. In the words of Tony Stark (a whiskey drinking, woman loving true American... Fictionary character) "Is it better to be feared or respected? Who says we cant have both?"
FEAR DEMANDS RESPECT!

I am personally fed up with war. I've seen more than my share and I don't believe in any of it anymore. I am awake to what our government truly is all about and I want no part of it. It's all BS. That's my 2 cents.cwink wrote:Tough call all around.. Most in the us and I would venture to say military are war weary. I know I am.. I was all for going into Iraq and Afghanistan. But as we can see there and now in Egypt and Libia is appears that the folks in that region don't want to even try to help themselves. Plus, we have so many problems here at home that it is hard to help anyone else when we can't work out our own problems..
Then again, we were in bad shape during the Great Depression and WWII pulled us all together and brought us out of it.. But that was a different age and a different mindset and political climate..
I am starting to lean more towards a libertarian stance also.. I don't particularity care for Obama, but I don't envy him for having to make this decision. Even if he did draw the line in the sand. I think he has realized that the Bush foreign policy that he hated so much was there for a reason, because he really has been acting like Bush on a lot of these issues.

Re: Syria???
Very tough call.
Our President opened his mouth and talked very big with his "Red Line" comment about Syria. Now, our Secretary of State has made his "Moral Outrage" comments.
Nobody in the political world respects President Obama. He has lost most of his respect domestically as well. For him to have any credibility whatsoever, I believe that he must do the following, even though I am convinced that he is too much of a coward to do so:
He must attack Syria, and hit them hard. He must remove their dictator and eliminate their chemical weapons.
The next best thing for him to do is absolutely nothing. He will then be seen as completely ineffectual, which is the current case anyway. And his news flunkies will sweep this under the carpet, so to speak.
What I think he will do, and this is the absolute wrong thing to do, is he will fire some missiles into Syria. He'll blow up some useless buildings. Some women and children will be hurt. Our enemies will parade them out in front of tv cameras talking about how evil the USA is. He'll claim victory against this tyrant du jour. And we'll be in a war in Syria within 5 years.

IMO the reason some of this hoopla all over the Middle East and the surrounding regions is simmering over is the worlds perception of US weakness due to the sap in the White House. These numb skulls have been waiting for decades to act like idiots...

That's exactly the perfect event to ensure an executive order making Obama a 3rd-term POTUS.

I saw them listed at 150K a piece........they don't just shoot one and done though.Jeffro B wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but i heard somewhere that the tomahawk missiles cost around a million dollars a piece. That would be my guess as to why any other nation doesn't want to get involved. Just guessing.
Also, we wouldn't be the only ones waging war on Syria. It's a UN thing, so you'll see all of our allies on board. England and France definitely don't want those guys using weapons with gas when they are within range.

Re: Syria???
Funny thing is...Obama was actually right in not voting to give congressional approval to invade Iraq IMO. Saddam literally killed hundreds of thousands, by some estimates, with gas (WMDs). Iraq broke something like 12 UN resolutions relative to WMDs, kicked out inspectors, etc. Before going into Iraq, we knew who the bad guy was at least...and it was still a mistake to do it.
Fast forward 10 years and Obama is about to bomb Syria (when we don't even know if the government is the entity that released the gas...if gas was released). We have reason to believe that Al Qaeda comprises a large portion of the rebel resistance. We also think the Muslim Brotherhood may be in the rebel side of things.
Gas may have been used twice this year, starting in February...and if the largest estimates are true, 1000 people have been killed.
Yet, for some reason, Obama is ready to pull the trigger. WTH!
Watched MSNBC (the Obama mouthpiece network) at lunch and even those idiots are against this action. That should tell you something more is going on than we are being told (and I am not a conspiracy theorist).

I think its a lose lose deal, and no clear cut "right" answer like some others have stated. Who knows if this isn't an Al Qaeda plot...
There was a documentary on Nat Geo last night called America vs. Iraq that was real good. I had no idea how big of a cluster fluck that whole deal was...

Conspiracy theorists says it about redistribution of wealth at the global level http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/57454 and how can one argue?

Re: Syria???
I seldom agree with Newt Gingrich but I just read an interesting article he authored on CNN.com stating his position on Syria. He agrees that the use of chemical weapons is deplorable, but he asks if we decide to initiate a miltary strike what then? What is the next step? The obvious answer is yet another US entanglement in the middle east with no foreseeable resolution. His point is that Syria is a minor threat in the region, Iran is the major threat. Why become involved in something that presents no threat to national security? I agree that we can not continue to be the world's police force.
