Insurance Question
Insurance Question
So I am thinking about taking a contract job in another state. What kind of policies and prices are out there for a family of 4 that will cover our needs with us being in different states? Just basic coverage, 80/20 copay etc...

Re: Insurance Question
As long as all of the family is fairly healthy , an individual ,( non group) health insurance on a family will run you $1000 to 1200 per month. That is for a good policy. As long as you stay with a good company like BCBS or United Health Care , ect. There are several other's , all of these will have in network providers at most any medical facility that you can find.
The only negative about an individual policy as opposed to a group policy is that in a group you cant be excluded , but with an individual policy if you have had any serious medical conditions in the past , then they do not have to accept you. ( Some of this is supposed to change in 2014 with AHCA ( Obama Care )
If interested PM me and lets get together , you can sign up with BCBS over the phone.
Hope this helps !

Re: Insurance Question
I don't know if i'd go with BCBS right now with all the hospitals that are pulling from their networks... I can do you a humana or united healthcare plan, pending ages, for:
HUMANA
Deductible: Monthly Premium:
1,000 $843
1,500 $753
2,000 $660
3,500 $490
5,000 $403
7,500 $259
United Healthcare:
Deductible Monthly Premium:
1,000 $780
1,500 $687
2,500 $572
3,500 $516
5,000 $438
7,500 $372
10,000 $320
12,500 $303
oh yea, the insurance company loves it when you pick a low deductible... Some agents like those low deductibles too, gets the premium up so they make more money... Hope this helps!

Re: Insurance Question
thanks for the info, thinking about taking a contract job. Its out the state and paying almost 4 times what I make now. Just trying to figure out if the time away from the family, money, and expenses would be really worth it vs staying where I am at. I would be home every weekend, and might could work out a 4 day work week. I have the option of cobra insurance also.

Re: Insurance Question
Cobra will probably cost way more than what he listed above. I think it's only good for a certain amount of months too after leaving your current job.regishay wrote:thanks for the info, thinking about taking a contract job. Yea, Cobra's only good for 18 months in his case... treat cobra as a bridge, gets you from one plan to the next and you should probably in most cases get to the other side of the bridge as soon as you can!
