BOAT LANDING NAMED For AVERY WOOD- A popular LeFlore County boat landing has been given a new name. McIntyre Scatters is several thousand acres of wetland that receives water from several sources , including Tippo Bayou and the Yalobusha River. It is considered one of the best duck hunting areas in the Southeast. Some 50 friends, family and former employees attended the festivities to pay tribute to Wood’s extended career in conservation. Wood, a longtime resident of Greenwood, served as executive director of the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission from 1972 to 1976. State Senator Bunky Huggins (R-Greenwood) praised Wood for his contributions that have helped ensure a place to hunt and fish for future generations of Mississippians. Huggins then presented Wood a Joint Resolution passed by the Mississippi Legislature citing Wood’s many accomplishments in conservation over the years. Appointed to the Game and Fish Commission by Governor William Waller, Wood was one of the several key state leaders who helped spearhead legislation creating the Mississippi Wildlife Heritage Committee in 1974. Wood, along with Committee members who represented the Senate, House and the State Game and Fish Commission, worked with The Nature Conservancy and others to purchase land in state ownership for hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreation. After leaving the Game and Fish Commission, Wood worked in the private sector for several years before going to work for the Mississippi Department of Corrections

I did some scouting over the weekend on some near by Fed. WMA's. It's time for me to try to hunt somewhere different anyway. I will have us a place to hunt next season. Don't worry about.

Tibbe creek? I haven't hunted there in years. We need to find someone in snuff hunting club and go to the Una bottom when it floods. I have hammered em in there. The boy i used to hunt with over there is dead, But for Don I will see what i can do.

HUNTING THE I-55 CORRIDOR
BY BOBBY CLEVELAND

Nestled perfectly between the North Canton Exit and South Canton Exit (Exit 119) the Canton Sewage Lagoon Impoundments offer the finest turd pond hunting in all of Cental-East-South Mississippi. No better spot can be found unless you work your way to the traditional Miss Delta..

Our Guide Dick Cotton, used his vast knowledge of the territority to put us on the Duck Hunt of a lifetime..

Our hunt starts at Nancy's Chevron located in Canton Miss.. We meet very early in the a.m. (6:00a.m.). Dick Cotton took one sniff of the North Wind and his eyes lite up... All the boy could get out of his mouth was "TURDZZZZ BOBBY!!!!"

We shot the turdz out of'em boyz.. I could go on and on as the party kilt 72 turd hustlers that mornin.. Cotton kilt a double banded (reward band) merganzer/sholver/mandrain-duck cross half of each.. dog couldn't find the bird for all the turz floatin in the water; so cooton himslef swam nearly 255 yards track down the bird
it was an awesome reterieve and a very pleasnant ride back; Windows down Cotton in the back of the truck holdin up turds and reward bands..

Cotton p.m. me and I'll tell u bout the sewage Lagoon behind my Granny's house in peral...
