surf fishing mobile bay/fort morgan

Postby duckninja » Mon Sep 10, 2012 8:14 pm

I'm heading down to mobile on thursday to do some surf fishing. I do not have a boat and will be fishing mobile bay friday and saturday, then taking a day trip to fish fort morgan sunday. any tips on bait and areas to fish? the fishing report and weather look promising.
Thanks

I will be fishing on the east side right in daphne. there is a walking trail that leads to a pier and I head down to the point. Had pretty good luck there in previous years catching specks and flounder. I didn't know what is biting this time of year and what they were biting on. I seem to always miss the jubilees, I've never experienced it. Any advice helps. Thanks

Since I'll be fishing in an area that is normally calm, I'm thinking of using the fish finder rig with a light weight and a jig. Does that seem to work pretty good?

Thats a nice park and sounds like the right way to fish it. If little luck, you might want to try mouth of Weeks Bay. IMO fall trout fishing in the delta (mid-October-November) is fantastic. Did you charter a trip at fort morgan?

Thanks for the info. I didn't charter a trip. I plan on wade fishing the point at the end of the fort, mobile point I think is the name. I've fished there the past few years but always in mid-late June. I don't know what to expect to catch down there this time of year. I wanted to try and pinpoint a certain type Of fish so that I knew what type of lures/bait to use.

green grubs with lead heads (red), silver spoons and red and yellow mirror lures. Should be plenty of skip jacks, blue fish, some trout and redfish
