I've only seen it planted in strips for cover.

bigdecoy - I planted it one year because my seed guy (SSI) was out of Sorgum Sudan, but we only use it for cover. SB on this site can tell if if SSI has it or not.

Egyptian wheat is non existent this year due to last year's crop failure. If concealment is what you are looking for, sorghum Sudan grass can't be beat for the money. Specialty Seed does have sorghum Sudan grass. If you have trouble with the crop falling over, plant few seed per acre and go light on the fertilizer. The more distance between plant stems will allow the stem to get larger(fatter). Think about an open grown pine tree Vs. a tree in a pine plantation. The open grown tree is short and fat and the plantation tree is skinny and tall.

If y'all could get some switchgrass started, you'd never have to worry about cover again.
